Gentle.NET is a CLS-compliant, database independent object persistence framework. It has an extensive feature set, excellent performance, and reasonably complete docs. It features automatic SQL generation, object construction/caching/uniquing, validation, bindable list support, relation management, transactions, and much more. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Firebird/InterBase, MS SQL Server (incl. CE), MS Access, SQLite, Sybase, and Sybase ASA are supported. It includes a NAnt build file as well as VS.NET project files for building under Windows. Mono 1.1.4 and higher is fully supported.
Glib Binding properties is a system that allows developers to bind properties of GLib and GTK+ objects (Ada95 bindings are also available). This makes it possible to synchronize the properties of several objects, so that when one property changes the properties bound with it automatically change accordingly. This often eliminates the need to write callbacks watching for changes of properties. It supports one-way and mutual bindings and bindings with transformation functions.
Gozirra (previously SERStomp) is a lightweight client and server implementation of the Stomp (TTMP) protocol, implemented in Java. The main goal of Gozirra is to provide a tiny embeddable library that applications can use as a simple messaging provider. Stomp is a simple, lightweight publish/subscribe messaging protocol.
Hydro is an independent implementation of ICE, the object-oriented RPC protocol by ZeroC, for the O'Caml programming language. Hydro (like ICE) allows you to bridge language barriers by letting components written in different programming languages communicate with each other. ZeroC's ICE product currently includes implementations for C++, Java, C#, Python, Ruby, VB, and PHP. Hydro adds support for O'Caml. Hydro includes an asynchronous runtime and a generator called hydrogen.
Inter-Thread Communication (ITC) aims to make it exceedingly easy to call functions in other threads. The lexer does all the work, so just run the lexer on your headers, then call the stub functions. In addition, it also provides a complete threading API, with the four threading primitives and a high speed threadsafe FIFO class.
Ice is a modern alternative to object middleware such as CORBA or COM/DCOM/COM+. It is easy to learn, yet provides a powerful network infrastructure for demanding technical applications. It features an object-oriented specification language, easy to use C++ and Java mappings, a highly efficient protocol (including protocol compression), asynchronous method invocation and dispatch, dynamic transport plug-ins, TCP/IP and UDP/IP support, SSL-based security, a firewall solution, and much more.
JBoss is an Open Source, standards-compliant, Enterprise JavaBeans application server implemented in pure Java. JBoss provides JBossServer, the basic EJB container and JMX infrastructure, JBossMQ for JMS messaging, JBossMail for mail, JBossTX for JTA/JTS transactions, JBossSX for JAAS based security, JBossCX for JCA connectivity, and JBossCMP for CMP persistence. It integrates with Tomcat Servlet/JSP container and Jetty Web server/servlet container, and enables you to mix and match these components through JMX by replacing any component you wish with a JMX-compliant implementation for the same APIs. The goal is to provide a full J2EE stack in the Free/Open Source software world.
