Notational Velocity is a Mac OS X desktop application that stores and retrieves notes. The same area is used both for creating notes and searching. MyNotex is software to take and to manage textual notes, even large numbers of them. Notes are gathered under different subjects and consist of a title, a date, a list of tags (keywords), and a free-length text which can be formatted (change font color, name, size, italic, bold, paragraph alignment, etc.); the software can manage bullets and numbered lists with automatic indentation. A single file produced by MyNotex contains multiple subjects and notes. Multiple attachments (files of any kind) can be associted with each note. You can search for notes by subject, by content, by tag (keyword), or by date. OpenOffice Writer files can be imported directly. Data can be exported as HTML that can be edited with a word processor like OpenOffice Writer. Finally, it is possible to synchronize two different MyNotex files.
nts is an acronym for Note Taking Simplified. It provides a simple, intuitive format for using plain text files to store notes, a command line interface for viewing notes in a variety of convenient ways, and a cross-platform, wx(python)-based GUI for creating and modifying notes as well as viewing them. Displayed items can be grouped by path or tag and can be filtered in various ways.
Outline is a note-taking application that features a unique design, intuitive hierarchy, and free placement of notes like a paper notebook, support for various types of content (text, images, inks, tags, Web content, etc.), synchronization options, and Microsoft OneNote compatibility. Outline's hierarchy resembles that of a real notebook: there are notebooks for general subjects, section tabs for specific topics, and pages for actual notes. For more complex notebook structures, additional section groups can be created within a notebook. There are no limitations on the number of notebooks, section groups, section tabs and pages.
