The ROHC library provides an easy and robust way for applications to reduce their bandwidth usage on network links with limited capacity or expensive costs. Headers of network packets are compressed with the ROHC protocol and algorithms. The ROHC protocol is very efficient for compressing VoIP streams which use RTP as a transport protocol. ROHC is also suitable for compressing IP-only (IPv4 or IPv6) flows, UDP flows, and many others.

IPQ BDB is a netfilter userspace daemon that can block or mark IP packets according to iptables rules that issue the corresponding -j NFQUEUE, as well as a Berkeley database of bad IPv4 addresses. A log parser and a banning utility add entries to the database. An IP has to be caught a configurable number of times before being blocked. Transitions between blocked and non-blocked are faded using probabilities. A halving period governs IP rehabilitation.

For safety, it works as an unprivileged user and uses chroot.

rnio is a minimalistic nio framework for Java. With rnio, it is easy to use non-blocking network sockets in Java. Internally, rnio runs a set of selectors and handles the thread pool for the network-related tasks. This means that non-blocking network connections can be fully event-based.
Mpath-tools is a set of programs for Linux 2.6 (and later) that aim to facilitate load balancing and failover over multiple and heterogeneous ISP connections, it consists of four parts. Mpathd is a daemon and the core of mpath-tools; it runs in the background, monitoring the state of each connection. It dynamically updates routing tables according to the state of the gateways and enforces rules set by the administrator. Mpath is the command line control tool; it connects to a local or remote mpathd and uses the mpath-tools client library to send commands and receive responses from the daemon. Mping is a replacement for the classic ping command that takes advantage of multipath to send multiple simultaneous ping probes using different gateways. Mpwww is a realtime Web-based network monitor; it uses the mpath-tools client library to gather data and statistics from the mpathd daemon, and displays them using HTML5 canvas and AJAX.
