Traffic Squeezer is a Linux kernel based WAN network traffic accelerator from Doublefish Solutions. It uses methods such as traffic compression, traffic PDU coalescing, protocol specific acceleration (such as TCP acceleration mechanisms), and quality of service. Traffic Squeezer also contains custom L7filters (application protocol filters), DPI (Deep Packet Engines) and so on to control and administrate your traffic. With Traffic Squeezer, you can optimize MPLS,ISDN, leased links, Satellite Networks, and Marine Internet, and even build your own custom WAN Appliance with Traffic Squeezer. A GUI is now supported via Doublefish Solution Aquarium. Aquarium is a Web-GUI that also supports Traffic Squeezer, Squid, and other open source solutions.

Wiremaps is an application that gathers layer 2 wiring information on a network using protocols like LLDP, EDP, CDP, and SONMP. It also gathers information from the FDB (MAC-port table on switches), the ARP table (MAC-IP table), and some miscellaneous information like interface names.

lldpd is an implementation of IEEE 802.1ab that provides LLDP sending and reception, It supports VLANs and includes an SNMP subagent that can interface to an SNMP agent through the AgentX protocol. LLDP is an industry standard protocol designed to supplant proprietary Link-Layer protocols such as Extreme's EDP (Extreme Discovery Protocol) and CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol). The goal of LLDP is to provide an inter-vendor compatible mechanism to deliver Link-Layer notifications to adjacent network devices. The daemon is also able to deal with CDP, FDP, SONMP, and EDP protocols. It also handles the LLDP-MED extension.

SpamCheetah is a network-level spam filtering solution built around OpenBSD greylisting, tarpit, and blacklisting. It comes with a Web interface and requires zero administration. It does not allow spam to even land in your network, thus saving you precious bandwidth. It does not have the 'false positives' problem of losing legitimate mail.

PRADS is a "Passive Real-time Asset Detection System". It passively listens to network traffic and gathers information on hosts and services it sees. This information can be used to map your network, letting you know what services and hosts are alive and used. It can also be used together with your favorite IDS/IPS setup for "event to host/service" correlation. It can help you make sure that your inventory database is up to date. PRADS commes in two versions. One written in Perl, and one written in C. Some features might only be found in one of the versions.

Serial TUN/TAP Encapsulation (Stuntapen) is a simple program that implements a SLIP (RFC 1055)-like algorithm, extended to allow either IPv6 packets (when using a TUN device) or Ethernet frames (when using TAP) to be transferred over some kind of a serial line, such as a computer's serial port, a TCP stream, or an SSH session. When used together with Netcat or SSH, it could be used to create a crude but working IP tunnel or VPN, or to forward IP traffic to a low-feature embedded system via a serial line or USB, or for educational purposes.

VPPPN stands for virtual peer-to-peer private networking. The project provides a VPN client using a custom protocol to be able to set up a point-to-point dynamic virtual network. This differs from OpenVPN in that it does not need a central server to pass the network's traffic. A central server exists to allocate IP addresses and provide a point of contact for the clients, but once connections are established, these services are no longer needed. This means that a VPPN network is free (as in beer), since to set up a network you do not need to invest in an always-on Internet server. Once established, a VPPPN network behaves in a similar way to a normal IP network. To the end user, this means you can set up an office network and drag and drop files between computers in a secure manner over the Internet.
