xlife is a laboratory for experimenting with cellular automata. It supports loadable rulesets and palettes, different topologies, and up to 256-state cellular automata. It has rules and patterns for Life, Brian's Brain, Perrier's Loops, Langton's Ants and Loops, Wireworld, E.F. Codd's 1975 UCC automaton, some Prisoner's Dilemma games, and many others. It is very fast for step-by-step mode, bounded grid, and chaotic patterns. It has several unique features: a historical mode, a pseudocolor mode, and n-state statistics. It has been developed since 1989. The modern version of Xlife began its history in 2011.

Xnetintf is an X Windows application that manages network interfaces. The current interface state is depicted through a series of bitmaps, and a mouse click in the window initiates a state transition. Xnetintf uses a per-interface configuration file to supply commands that check and toggle state, as well as a program to run after the state change completes. A command line interface is also supported.

xps dynamically displays in an X Window the Unix processes as a tree or forest, the roots on the left and the leaf processes on the right. The status of each process (running, sleeping, stopped, etc.) can be indicated by a color. Different users appear as different colors. Process selection can be made per user, all users or through a regular expression pattern. A process can be selected to show ps information or to send the process a signal.

yuck is a command line option parser for C that works on a minimal set of dependencies - only a C compiler and the m4 macro processor are required. It supports all the standard use cases: GNU-style long options (--option), condensable short options (-xab for -x -a -b), and optional arguments to long and short options (--foo[=BAR]), multiple occurrence of options (-vvv). Most importantly, it does not depend on libc's getopt() nor getopt_long().
