Mp3blaster is an interactive text-based program that plays several audio file types (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, wav, and sid). It is one of the few audio players for the text console that allows full interactive control during playback. One of its key features is the ability to compose a very flexible playlist (while playing!). It plays most MP3 formats and has full mixer support built in.
Bonk is an audio compression program that can operate in either lossy or lossless mode. In lossy mode, it achieves around 14:1 compression while remaining perceptually lossless; equivalent to around 95 kbps for CD quality stereo. In lossless mode, which allows exact recovery of the original audio file, the compression ratio is typically around 2:1. The compressed files are stored in a new format based on speech compression techniques. Compressed files can then be converted back to an uncompressed format or played back in real time.
vobwalker walks through a .VOB file containing DVD video and extracts lists of VOBUs to a set of chapter files. Each file begins with a VOBU that has no predecessor (i.e., does not point at a preceding VOBU) and contains the list of VOBUs found by following the successor pointers along the list. Although it does not adjust the pointers in the VOBUs (but merely copies them from one file to another), the created chapter files are suitable for use by a program such as dvdauthor that expects to be responsible for filling in the VOBUs.
vobps2fix is a tool that runs through a set of .VOB files created by dvdauthor and tweaks them so that the Playstation 2 will play them without pausing. The Playstation 2 is a bit finicky about the DVD format and pauses frequently when encountering certain timestamps, even if the DVDs work on other players.
