RTSPdump is a tool for downloading a multimedia stream from a Windows Media server (WMServer). It accepts rtsp:// and mms:// URLs. It supports both UDP and TCP traffic. The stream can be saved into a WMV file for archiving or timeshifting purposes or passed through stdout to another program for processing or immediate viewing. It has also limited support for other brands of servers that also provide RTSP streaming.
FFmpegPHP is a pure OO PHP port of the ffmpeg-php wrapper. It adds an easy to use, object-oriented API for accessing and retrieving information from video and audio files. It has methods for returning frames from movie files as images that can be manipulated using PHP's image functions. This works well for automatically creating thumbnail images from movies. It is also useful for reporting the duration and bitrate of audio files (MP3, WMA, etc.). It can access many of the video formats supported by ffmpeg, including MOV, AVI, MPG, and WMV.
WOSH (Wide Open Smart Home) is a message-oriented middleware for controlling and automating a smart home. It comes with working services and devices. WOSH is an open multi-platform C++ framework. Its architecture is service (bundles) oriented and designed for distributed (cloud) computing. WOSH ships with library source, many services, and some applications (a server, a trayicon remote controller, and a GUI full-controller). Some features provided by its micro-kernel are a multi-user system with access policies, a centralized database manager and system monitor, and automatic network management and masquerading (on TCP). Some of the implemented services are: multimedia audio playback, monitor and control of X10 devices, remote control using instant messaging, and a remote control using SMS and call notification.
Newpods can help you sync recently downloaded podcasts to your portable device. It will look through a directory tree to find podcasts that have been downloaded since the last time the program was run. It will then insert two commands into the bash history list: one to pushd to the podcast directory on your portable device, so you can clean out old files as needed, and one to copy the new podcasts to your portable device. If you're tired of copying files by hand, but don't want to use a heavyweight GUI solution, newpods might be right for you.
Enna is a Media Center application. Featuring a simple user interface, Enna is based on the powerful Enlightenment Foundations Libraries (EFL) for its graphical user interface and GeeXboX libraries for multimedia playback (libplayer) and information retrieval (libvalhalla and libnfo). It allows you to browse and play your music and video files, browse and play slideshows of your photos, retrieve information about your media files on the Internet, build a database of your media, and retrieve information from your collections (such as covers, fan art, song lyrics, and much more).
tvpvrd is a PVR daemon for Linux that offers the ability to schedule and manage TV recordings using one or multiple installed analogue TV capture cards, e.g. Hauppauge. The daemon is interfaced either through its full command language via a provided command line shell or through a basic (built-in) Web interface provided by the built in micro Web server. The goal is to provide an advanced recording and transcoding (using ffmpeg) server without the need to configure databases or a complex GUI. The server is completely self-contained and uses an XML DB in plain text format to store future recordings.
