This is a port of a recently announced 2D sound spatialization library to Linux/X11 platform. The resulting binary acts as a sound "filter" between a 44.1khz mono source and outputs 44.1khz stereo spatialized sound. The UI uses low-level Xlib calls and does not require any GUI toolkit. Examples are provided to play MP3 files through this filter controlling the sound source position.
3Delight is a very fast RenderMan-compliant renderer designed to produce photorealistic images for serious production environments. Some of its features include ray tracing, global illumination, motion blur, depth of field, subdivision surfaces, programmable shaders, quality antialiasing, and antialiased multi-depth shadow maps. The API and the shading language are very similar to what is described in the RenderMan interface documentation.
3dom stands for 3-Dimensional Object Modeler. The aim of 3dom is to offer a tool to model reality with user-chosen accuracy, and user-chosen inclination for a particular purpose, which can be gradually improved and extended. 3dom is designed to be a general-purpose modeler, however it is especially inclined to model scenes for Global Illumination purposes.
The 5DT Data Glove driver provides access to the 5DT range of data gloves at an intermediate level. Features include multiple instances, easy initialization and shutdown, raw or scaled (auto-calibrated) sensor values, calibration functions, basic gesture recognition, and a cross-platform application programming interface.
abcde is a frontend to cdparanoia, wget, cd-discid, id3, and your favorite Ogg Vorbis (the default), MP3, FLAC, Ogg Speex, or MPP (Musepack) encoder. It grabs an entire CD and converts each track to the desired format, then comments or ID3-tags each file, all with one command. It supports multiple output in a single CD read, the creation of a single track from a CD, resume operation, CD concatenation, volume normalization, gapless encoding (with LAME), parallelization, SMP, proxies, customizable filename organization and munging, playlist generation, distributed encoding via distmp3, and more.
Ghostscript is a processor for PostScript and PDF files. It can rasterize these files to a wide variety of printers, devices for screen preview, and image file formats. Since applications tend to prepare pages for printing in a high-level format such as PostScript, most Unix users with low-level bitmap printers, such as inkjets, use GhostScript as part of the printing process. In addition, Ghostscript is capable of converting PostScript files, functionality comparable to Adobe Acrobat Distiller, but on the command line. In addition, Ghostscript is used for file import and viewing by a great many other applications, including xv, ImageMagick, gimp, and xdvi. Several GUI wrappers for viewing PostScript and PDF files exist, including GSview, ghostview, gv, ggv, and kghostview. This is far from a comprehensive list.
Aglaophone is a system of interconnectable modules for the recording, processing, and playback of real-time audio. It features a real-time spectrogram display for visualization along with a number of processing modules. Modules include filters, downsamplers, upsamplers, and quantizers. An MP3 comparison module allows interactive blind comparison of MP3 encoded audio with CD audio, demonstrations of spectral imaging, quantization, and Smith-Barnwell filter bank based wavelet decomposition are included, and there is a module that can perform an automatic spectral analysis of a speaker system.
