AweMUD is a MUD server for use with fantasy-settings. Features include fully dynamic objects and characters, an advanced scripting system, and custom worlds. The engine will eventually have completely interactive rooms (items can be placed under benches, doors can be destroyed), complex magick, and interactive NPCs.
The Interreality project is a collection of Open Source, Free Software projects based on the Virtual Object System (VOS) platform. The goal is to develop a free and open platform for multi-user 3D virtual reality games, applications, and interactive, collaborative 3D virtual spaces. VOS is a powerful and generic network object framework designed to support a variety of high-performance applications. It is the basis for Ter'Angreal, a general-purpose browser application for entering and participating in 3D worlds.
AIME is a C++ MUD engine with an OO design, designed to provide utmost flexibility for the designer to create complex worlds. It has a fully-functional builder port, online interpreted specials code, and a flexible levels/quest/profession track system to allow the game owners to set up any world they can imagine.
The WorldForge Project is developing a complete, distributable framework for massively multiplayer online roleplaying games. The system will include a number of fully developed roleplaying worlds with unique maps, histories, creatures and legends. To run these worlds on the servers a balanced but highly customisable set of roleplaying rules is being developed. Provisions will be made to allow others the ability to recode the servers to use alternate rule sets. A standard protocol named Atlas is being developed to allow a common communication layer between clients, servers, and associated tools. mcl is a MUD client running in a Virtual Console under Linux or using standard TTY routines under any other UNIX. Embedded Perl or Python offer very high tweakability. Other features include huge scrollback, a stable input line with the MUD prompt, Perl regexps for actions and substitutions.
