Mp3blaster is an interactive text-based program that plays several audio file types (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, wav, and sid). It is one of the few audio players for the text console that allows full interactive control during playback. One of its key features is the ability to compose a very flexible playlist (while playing!). It plays most MP3 formats and has full mixer support built in.
mp3cleanup is used to tidy up various aspects of MP3 files, including filenames, ID3 tags, path, m3u playlists, and bitrate. This is particularly useful for hardware MP3 players that sometimes have arbitrary limitations on the files they work (well) with. It can operate on single files or on all the files contained in a directory.
Mp3tag is an Objective-Caml library for reading and writing ID3v1 and v2 tags in MP3 files. It includes mp3tag tools, which can be used to modify tags in MP3 files or rename files according to their tags, and a cddbtag tool that modifies tags by using a CDDB server to retrieve information about the track.
mp3tools is a set of utilities (mp3id3, mp3info, mp3index, and mp3gui) for managing collections of MPEG audio files. It can get information such as bitrate and play length about a file, view and alter ID3 tags, and generate completely customized listings. All of these functions can be done either from the command line or a GUI.
