MJS is a console MP3 Jukebox System. It aims to be easy to use, especially on a dedicated mp3-player. It shows the file selector, playlist, and playback info windows at the same time. Searching and playlist saving/loading is also posible. The system is in use at our students'union bar and is designed to be used in a public place. A console screensaver that displays the current song and text of your choice is available. A `Hitlist'utility is also available.
BeatPacker is a simple Python script that uses an M3U playlist to generate a temporary folder filled with files that can be easily transferred to a portable music player. It's designed to be used as a target for drag-and-drop, a nautilus-scripts right-click action, or similar purposes. A Windows installer is available.
MP3 STATION is a LIRC-aware, plain-text tool set for managing MP3 playback in a car or home with as little user interaction as possible. It can restart the last playlist at the last played track/frame, transparently load directories, transparently recompile playlists, and keep a repository of all the playlists. It also has two simple clients for communicating with cm3s (a curses console client and a very basic one on a parallel port). All programs run under a non-privileged user account.
iTunes Export provides the ability to export iTunes Playlists to the standard .m3u file format. Unfortunately, this feature is not included in the iTunes application and is extremely useful for users who wish to use iTunes with other applications or devices. iTunes Export is written in C# (.Net). iTunes Export provides a Command Line version (tested on Mono) and a GUI version, as well as a library that developers can use in their own applications.
dmcat is a Digital Music CATalog program. Written in Perl, it recurses a physical directory, searching for digital music files, and builds a virtual catalog (out of symbolic links) in a sister directory. It currently only supports the MP3 format using ID3 tags. The following hierarchies are supported: Album, Artist, Artist_Album, Genre, Miscellaneous (catch-all), Title, and Year.
Music Manager is a Konqueror plugin that lets you standardize the filenames of your music files, guess information and set ID3 tags from the file's name (this can be done to several files in one shot), rename many selected files based on their ID3 tags, set ID3 tags in mass for selected files with options for copying ID3s from other files and leaving some ID3 fields untouched, rename _ to space and vice versa, create HTML and text indexes of your collections (including total playing time, etc., configurable through templates), create nice CD covers with full listings of your music files (also configurable through templates), and organize your music collection to create a CD.
madman is a music manager application in the vein of Apple's iTunes and its many clones. It serves as a tag editor, a media library, and a CD burning frontend, and is extensible through plugin scripts. Dynamic playlists and powerful search features allow you to listen to better music all the time.
libptp is a Picture Transfer Protocol support library. It is used for downloading images from PTP cameras. It currently works with most modern cameras from the following vendor: Kodak, HP, Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Olympus, Konica, Minolta, Fuji, Ricoh, and Sony. This package also contains "ptpcam", the tool used to tweak camera properties and perform some basic operations.
EasyPMP is a program used to create and maintain the music database on a variety of portable music players. This allows tracks to be browsed by artist, album, genre, etc., rather than by directory structure. The following devices are supported: iRiver H100 series; iRiver H300 series; iRiver H10 UMS; iRiver H10 MTP (with emergency connect mode); iRiver H10Jr. UMS; iRiver U10 UMS; MEDION MDJuke220 and MDJuke 440; and Samsung YH-820, YH-920, and YH-925. It is developed as part of a project called PMPlib, which aims to develop a library that can be used by desktop media players and other programs, in order to support these devices.
