AmpJuke makes it possible to manage and stream your music online to several clients connected through a LAN or the Internet. In addition to streaming music, it can fetch "metadata" (album covers, images, lyrics, and track "fingerprints") automatically using various Web services such as last.fm and the.echonest. You can scan and import tags from as many tracks as you like, use favorites, and customize personal settings. Its focus is on easy navigation as well as speed.

It scans for MP3 and Ogg Vorbis files, located in various directories, creates a unique tree view with genre, artist, album, and song title information, features a user rates mechanism, a user playlist manager, and a wizard playlist creator, edits tags for both MP3 (ID3 v2) and Ogg Vorbis files, checks directories for new and missing files automatically, sends playlists to a directory, XMMS, or to K3B, displays and sets the album art of MP3 files, creates playlists from a virtual library, and includes popup windows to indicate change of song.
MP3 STATION is a LIRC-aware, plain-text tool set for managing MP3 playback in a car or home with as little user interaction as possible. It can restart the last playlist at the last played track/frame, transparently load directories, transparently recompile playlists, and keep a repository of all the playlists. It also has two simple clients for communicating with cm3s (a curses console client and a very basic one on a parallel port). All programs run under a non-privileged user account.
