Movgrab is a command-line movie downloader for sites like YouTube. It has no dependencies; everything that's needed should be there in the tar.gz package. Movgrab can connect through an HTTP proxy, can output the download to stdout for piping into another program, and can fork into the background to free up the console. When forked into the background, its progress can still be seen in a ps list.

It can retrieve data from both the IMDb's Web server and a local copy of the whole database. Media Embed is a PHP class that can embed video and images from remote sites. It takes the URL of a page in a remote site that may have images or video and sends HTTP requests to that site to retrieve details about that media like the title, description, size, and thumbnail images. The class can also generate HTML to embed the given remote site images or videos in the current site page. Lucas_Dambergs enables you to link typed text to a specific time of a QT movie, DVD, or VIDEO_TS folder. It can be useful for attaching notes to specific parts of a recorded video. This software inserts the time index into a text file whenever you need it. Once a time index is linked to a set of notes, you can just click on the index to jump back to the selected scene. On opening a new movie or by selecting the "save text" button, the text file with your notes is saved in the folder specified by your preference settings. When you open a movie file that already has an associated text file, this text file will also open.
