Cable Modem Counter is a cable modem (or any Ethernet connection) IP byte logger. It is not a packet sniffer, it just gathers network statistics. The daemon logs all the incoming/outgoing connections and creates pairs of source/destination IP addresses with a byte counter and direction of traffic (inbound or outbound) attached. It stores it periodically on a file (or files). It accepts network connections to gather the statistics and also can run scripts which can send commands to the daemon and receive information, like inbound/outbound traffic and separation of traffic based on network source/destination.
Cacti is a complete frontend to RRDTool. It stores all of the necessary information to create graphs and populate them with data in a MySQL database. The frontend is completely PHP driven. Along with being able to maintain graphs, data sources, and round robin archives in a database, Cacti also handles the data gathering. There is SNMP support for those used to creating traffic graphs with MRTG.
CaiCai is a network and services monitoring system. It performs tests for ping, DHCP, POP3, SMTP, FTP, etc. It does not require additional software installed on the remote side. It is fully configurable. It provides instant reports (via an HTML page), logs, statistics, and sound alarms.
CFI (Caligare Flow Inspector) is a tool for processing and evaluating network traffic, using netflow data export statistics sent by a router. It is also a user-friendly application used for network diagnostics. It has the added ability of real time monitoring and data analysis, in which you can find and locate network traffic transmitted over the local host and local networks.
Cancerbero is a port scan engine based on nmap. It scans the hosts of a defined network once every configured time interval and stores the results in a MySQL database. It detects changes from last scan, generates alerts with differences, and optionally sends the alert by mail to the owner of the host. It provides a snapshot of the ports which a host has open over time. A Web interface is provided for configuring the system and data mining.
The Capibara Distributed URL Cloaking Kit is a reliable URL cloaking system using low QOS hosts and lines such as home PCs and DSL or cable connections. CDUCK combines DNS server/Web server functionality and a strict security model for the creation of reliable and safe domain Web cloaking.
The CMU NetReg package is a scalable and flexible Web-based system for managing networks. It consolidates information about DNS zones, subnets, machine registrations, and DHCP configuration, and provides tools for easy management. The system exports ISC BIND configuration and zones, and can update them via either static zone files or TSIG signed dynamic DNS updates. It also exports ISC DHCP configurations, and has a SOAP API for integration with other systems.
