Freecoin is a versatile version of the bitcoin framework, supporting language bindings and multiple currencies. It aims to share code with the original bitcoin implementation, while cleaning up its architecture. Freecoin strips down the backend bitcoin code to its essentials, while moving external tasks to language bindings (primarily Python). It also adds the possibility to customize the genesis block, allowing the creation of new currencies.
