Cobra is a general purpose programming language with a clean, high-level syntax. It provides language level features for quality, including first class unit tests and Eiffel-style contracts. It supports both static and dynamic binding. Cobra is a compiled language with good run-time performance, but also provides some scripting conveniences such as a pound-bang line (#!) and one step compile-and-run. Cobra runs on Linux, Mac, Windows, and anywhere else that Novell Mono or MS .NET exist, including handhelds.
C++ Resources Compiler is a tool that will generate a C++ source file (along with the corresponding header file) that embeds any given data file and provides a Resource class which gives access to this data. The Resource class can be created in two flavors: one using STL streams, the other using WxWidgets streams. Its function is similar to that of the "qtrc" tool from the Qt toolkit.
SQL Construction Kit aims to provide a simple builder/factory pattern based approach to generating DML SQL for all popular RDBMS systems. Included builders are SelectBuilder, InsertBuilder, UpdateBuilder, and DeleteBuilder. It is much lighter weight than any of the ORM tools available, and is 100% Java. It is a complete re-factoring of code that has been in production use since 2001 (updated to use features of Java 6). Also included is a Facade patterned Database object that wraps a Datasource object. This provides an execution framework for the results of the Builder objects, which includes simplified transaction and batch management as well as the ability to transparently handle SQL exceptions in a default manner. The Database object also provides a simple object-oriented approach via wrappers around the database metadata.
