Drumstick is a C++ wrapper around the ALSA library sequencer interface using Qt4 objects, idioms, and style. The ALSA sequencer provides software support for MIDI technology on Linux. Complementary multiplatform classes for SMF and WRK file processing are also included. This library is used in KMetronome, KMidimon, and KMid2 and was formerly known as "aseqmm".
MIDI to MP3 Converter for Mac is a tool that converts MIDI files to MP3 or WAV. It uses an intelligent conversion technique, allowing you to convert a 5 minute MIDI file in just a few seconds. It also produces high quality sound that may significantly surpass capabilities of your built-in sound card. MIDI to MP3 Converter uses SoundFonts to perform the converion, which greatly increases flexibility. You can choose an appropriate SoundFont for every MIDI file, or even supply each instrument of your composition with an individual SoundFont (piano, guitar, trumpet etc.). MIDI to MP3 Converter includes an editor for controlling ID3 tag information in the output files. The program also offers a number of sound effects. It is possible to set tempo, reverb, and chorus effects.
Midi Converter for Mac is a small and simple utility designed mostly for musicians who compose music using their computer. However, it can be very useful for anyone who wants to convert MIDI music files to MP3 or other popular formats. It is around 10 times faster than the other competing programs, because it converts the files directly rather than having to record them first. The program is very easy to use, and a trial version is available. It also allows you to embed a player, and has a number of other features. It does not rely on your sound card with regards to the quality of the final output, so you can expect high and consistent quality, regardless of what sort of computer you are going to use it on.
KMid2 plays MIDI and karaoke files to hardware MIDI devices or software synthesizers. It supports playlists, MIDI mappers, tempo (speed) control, volume and pitch (transpose) controls, and configurable character encoding, font, and color for lyrics. The graphic views include a rhythm view (visual metronome), a channels window with solo/muting controls and instrument selectors, and a piano player window (pianola).
AlsaModularSynth is a realtime modular synthesizer and effect processor. It features MIDI controlled modular software synthesis, realtime effect processing with input capture, full control of all synthesis and effect parameters via MIDI, an integrated LADSPA browser with search capability, and JACK support.
MIDI Sight Reader is an online music application (mupplet) inspired by its predecessor, the original MidiFlashCard system. The application scrolls both piano notes and guitar tablature. Notes are played for audio confirmation as they pass under the centerline on the window. The scrolling staffs drive a keyboard model and a guitar neck model. The guitar and keyboard can drive each other as well, for interactive exploration of the correspondence between the two instruments. The 3 components, staff, keyboard and guitar, can be independently added and removed from the top down, so many combinations of layout can be achieved.
Scenic is a free software suite for streaming audio, video, and MIDI between live events. It was created at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) to give artists a powerful tool for telepresence in live arts contexts, and new media installations. The streaming is done over RTP with the GStreamer multimedia framework. Users can also choose low-bandwidth or high-quality codecs, depending on what is available on their system. It offers up to as many audio channels as your audio device supports. It consists of a desktop application and several command-line utilities: scenic (a Desktop application to stream audio, video, and MIDI over RTP); milhouse (streams audio and video over RTP); midistream (streams MIDI notes and controls over RTP); dc-ctl (controls connected DC IEEE 1394 cameras); firereset (resets an IEEE 1394 bus to help in case of problems); and jack-info (prints information about running JACK servers).
