IkeWiki is a new kind of Wiki (a so-called "Semantic Wiki") developed by Salzburg Research that allows users to collaboratively annotate pages and links between pages with semantic annotations. Such annotations are useful because they give machines a certain amount of "understanding" of the content that goes beyond merely displaying the page. This information can then, for example, be used for context-specific presentation of pages, advanced querying, consistency verification, or drawing conclusions.
Karra is a flexible, Web-based, multi-lingual system for creating digital libraries of images, documents, URLs, and associated metadata. It could be used to archive and organise an organisation’s photo collection, providing a historical record. It could be used in scientific study where images of particular items need to be stored with data or geographical information. Textual information can be included with each item, creating a valuable repository of data and providing a way to search for records later.
libiptcdata is a C library for manipulating the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) metadata stored within multimedia files such as images. This metadata can include captions and keywords, often used by popular photo management applications. The library provides routines for parsing, viewing, modifying, and saving this metadata. The libiptcdata package also includes Python bindings and a command-line utility, iptc, for viewing and editing IPTC data in JPEG files.
The Informa RSS Library provides a convenient Java API for handling news channels and metadata about them. Different syntax formats (like RSS 0.91, 1.0 [RDF], 2.0, and Atom 0.3) for feeds are supported. There is also basic support for channel information descriptions (OPML). A full-text engine (Lucene) can be used for indexing and searching the news items. Two backends for storing the data are currently provided: In-Memory and Hibernate (which allows you to persist news items into allmost any JDBC compliant database).
TMAPI is a programming interface for accessing and manipulating data held in a topic map. The TMAPI specification defines a set of core interfaces which must be implemented by a compliant application, as well as a set of additional interfaces which may be implemented by a compliant application or which may be built upon the core interfaces. The goal is to define a common programming interface for all topic map processors, enabling portable code and a shorter learning curve for developers moving between topic map processers.
Lodel is a high-quality Web publishing system (CMS). Text-processed documents (in DOC, RTF, or SXW) are imported using a server-side application, servoo. Documents are structured using the styles in a word processor (or with forms). You can easily add and modify database fields to fit your needs: title, images, abstract, etc. It automatically produces sites with a table of contents, keyword index, author index, and much more. It is compliant with Dublin Core, UTF-8, CSS, and XHTML. It is currently in French and will be shortly translated into English.
