Baudline is a time-frequency browser designed for scientific visualization of the spectral domain. Signal analysis is performed by Fourier, correlation, and raster transforms that create colorful spectrograms with vibrant detail. Conduct test and measurement experiments with the built in function generator, or play back audio files with a multitude of effects and filters. The baudline signal analyzer combines fast digital signal processing, versatile high speed displays, and continuous capture tools for hunting down and studying elusive signal characteristics.
DarkIce is a live audio streamer. It records audio from an audio interface (e.g. a sound card), encodes it, and sends it to a streaming server. DarkIce can record from OSS audio devices, ALSA audio devices, Solaris audio interfaces, and Jack sources. DarkIce can encode into MP3, MP2, Ogg Vorbis, and AAC formats, and can send the encoded stream to ShoutCast, IceCast 1.3.x and 2.x, and the Darwin Streaming Server.
GramoFile is intended primarily for transferring gramophone records to CDs, but has many other possible uses. It can record very long .wav files with a bargraph signal peak-level meter, playback any part of the files, split long .wav files into separate tracks (with automatic track location), and process the signal with filters to reduce ticks and pops (multiple filters are provided, they can be applied in any order (multiple instances) with user-adjustable parameters). Track splitting and signal processing are done in the same run, and don't need any temporary files.

It can handle almost any kind of music, instrumental or vocal, including tablature, shaped notes, guitar grids, alternate tunings, user-defined symbols, and much more. Mup has been under active development since 1992.
MuSE is a user-friendly tool for network audio streaming, making life easier for independent free speech radio stations. It can play, mix, encode, and stream sound from and to the Internet in both MP3 and Ogg/Vorbis format to be listened by the majority of audio players. It can simultaneously mix up to 6 encoded audio channels plus a sound card input signal, sending the result to an Icecast/Shoutcast server. It offers GTK2, ncurses, and Carbon (OSX) interfaces for real-time operation and a full set of command line options.
RealPlayer plays streaming audio and video over the Internet in real-time. It plays RealAudio, RealVideo, MP3, 3GPP Video, Flash, SMIL 2.0, JPEG, GIF, PNG, RealPix, RealText, Ogg Vorbis, and Ogg Theora. It is available for Windows, Macintosh, Pocket PC, Nokia 9200 Series, Nokia 7650, Palm OS 5-based handhelds, Linux, Solaris, and many Unix variants.
Sfront compiles MPEG 4 Structured Audio (MP4-SA) programs into efficient C programs that generate audio when executed. MP4-SA is a standard for normative algorithmic sound, which combines an audio signal processing language (SAOL) with score languages (MIDI and SASL). Under Mac OS X and Linux, sfront supports real-time, low-latency audio input/output and MIDI input. Under Mac OS X, sfront supports the creation of AudioUnit plug-ins. The documentation includes a book about SAOL programming.
The Snack sound extension adds commands for sound play/record and sound visualization, e.g. waveforms and spectrograms. It supports in- memory sound objects, file based audio, streaming audio, WAV, AU, AIFF, and MP3 file formats, synchronous and asynchronous playback. The visualization canvas item types update in real-time and can output postscript. New commands and file formats can be added using the Snack C-API.
