DansGuardian is a Web content filtering proxy that uses Squid to do all the fetching. It filters using multiple methods including, but not limited to, phrase matching, file extension matching, MIME type matching, PICS filtering, and URL/domain blocking. It has the ability to switch off filtering by certain criteria including username, domain name, source IP, etc. The configurable logging produces a log in an easy to read format. It has the option to only log text-based pages, thus significantly reducing redundant information (such as every image on a page).
mod_backhand is a load balancing module for Apache. It provides per-request HTTP redirection within a heterogeneous Apache server cluster. Each request is processed and run through a set of "candidacy functions" to determine which server is best suited to respond. The request is then proxied to that server. Facilities are in place to allow you to write your own dynamically loadable decision making algorithms. Everything about the request and the current availability of resources can be used in the decision-making process.
Report Magic is an add-on for Analog, a Web site logfile analysis program. Generated reports include a description with tabulated, graphed, and summarized results. All colors, fonts, and background images are completely customizable to help make resulting reports fit the theme of your Web site. Report Magic has translations for several languages. It runs on any platform that will run Perl and pre-compiled versions are available for Win32 and Mac.
Cammgr manages a collection of web cameras. It will bring cameras online or offline, and initiate or suspend image capture operations. Any camera can be controlled provided a driver is available. Cammgr supports multiple images per camera, default images for inactive cameras, per- user/host/camera notifications, and an easy-to- use configuration file. It can scan Apache log files to auto-initiate image capture, and tune capture frequency can to the minimum needed to ensure that clients receive a new image on request.
screen-scraper is a tool for extracting data from Web sites. It works much like a database that provides access to the information of the Web. It provides a graphical interface allowing you to designate URLs, data elements to be extracted, and scripting logic to traverse pages and work with scraped data. Once these items have been created, screen-scraper can be invoked from external languages such as .NET, Java, PHP, and Active Server Pages. It can be scheduled to scrape information at periodic intervals, and can automatically write extracted data to CSV files.
Schroedinger is the combination of Apache Tomcat with a nice, clean Swing GUI. It provides an easy way to create and test JSP and Servlet Web applications. It records every JSP/HTTP activity so that every possible bug can be corrected immediately. Schroedinger can be used in personal mode, which prevents others from using its JSP Server while you develop the application. Alternatively, Schroedinger's working directory can be opened via file-sharing, so that a JSP can be copied to any computer of the JSP development team.
Netdisco is a Web-based network management tool. Users can locate the switch port of an end-user system by IP or MAC address. Data is stored using a SQL database. Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) optionally provides automatic discovery of the network topology. The network is inventoried by both device model and operating system (like IOS). It uses router ARP tables and L2 switch MAC forwarding tables to locate nodes on physical ports and track them by their IP addresses. For each node, a time stamped history of the ports it has visited and the IP addresses it has used is maintained. It gets all its data, including CDP topology information, with SNMP polls and DNS queries. Security features include a wire-side Wireless Access Point (AP) locator.
TestNetwork is a commercial version of TestMaker that provides a distributed test environment for scalability and performance tests and service monitoring. TestNetwork runs TestMaker intelligent test agents on multiple machines to achieve virtual user levels not possible with TestMaker. It makes it easy to configure a rack of servers to create 10,000 to 100,000 virutal users. It also makes it easy to set up a group of servers distributed around your network to show how your Web-enabled application, including Web Service, is performing.
Splunk is an engine for machine data. Use Splunk to collect, index, and harness the fast moving machine data generated by all your applications, servers, and devices: physical, virtual, and in the cloud. Search and analyze all your real-time and historical data from one place. Splunking your machine data lets you troubleshoot problems and investigate security incidents in minutes, not hours or days. Monitor your end-to-end infrastructure to avoid service degradation or outages. Meet compliance mandates at lower cost. Correlate and analyze complex events spanning multiple systems.
