libNUI is a hardware accelerated GUI framework that makes it possible to build rich multi-platform applications based on 3D rendered dynamic layouts. Interfaces are built as a composition of widgets and behaviors, and the framework handles positioning, resizing, anchoring, and texture stretching. Objects are connected with synchronous events and delegates for mono-threaded communication, or asynchronous notifications and message queues are used for multi-threaded applications. It also supports strings (including Unicode), paths, files, data streams, fonts, threads, critical sections, audio buffer rendering, and more.
ExactScan is a versatile document capture application for home offices and workgroups. It is designed from the ground up for high-speed document scanners and can easily handle hundreds of images per minute, including duplex scans. Included functionality reaches from managing, sorting, and editing singles pages to writing multi- as well as single-page PDF files including JPEG compression and TIFF, JPEG, JPEG2000, and PNG bitmap files. ExactScan allows performing state of the art image processing including automatic cropping, deskewing, dynamic thresholding for perfect black and white documents, and descreening print rasters.
The Noble Ape Simulation is a collection of a number of autonomous simulation components including a landscape simulation, biological simulation, weather simulation, sentient creature (Noble Ape) simulation, and a simple intelligent-agent scripting language (ApeScript). Noble Ape also contains a social simulation where the Noble Apes can be tracked in terms of social groups and also over many generations to explain social phenomenon to users looking to study this kind of interaction. It has been in development for more than a fifteen years.
Lynkeos processes astronomical webcam images. By stacking the best images, the signal to noise ratio is increased, and details lost in the noise of individual images become visible in the resulting image. This software accepts, as input, QuickTime sequences or still images, in any image format supported by its active plugins and Cocoa. It generates a 16-bit RGB TIFF image as output, to be further processed with some all-purpose image processing application.
Unity is a user-friendly development environment for designing and programming 3D games and a 3D game engine. Scripting is done using JavaScript, C#, or Boo via an embedded Mono run time. The resulting games can be deployed as stand-alone Mac OS X or Windows applications, Web plug-ins, or as Dashboard widgets. Unity is the tool that was used by Unity Technologies to create their game Gooball, which is available from Ambrosia Software.
FFView is a fast OpenGL-powered picture viewer a la ACDsee. It is aimed at letting you read manga or other comics onscreen (in either windowed or fullscreen mode). Its features include fast prefetching, smooth panning, voice commands, the ability to browse pictures inside archives (.rar/.cbr, .zip/.cbz) and persistent per-picture options.
EOS Image Manager is a pure Cocoa application that enables users to quickly view, thumbnail, rename (add and remove chars, change case), and manage (move, copy, and rename) all of their images from a single, uncluttered interface. With this application users can organize thousands of downloaded images and digital photos in minutes.
