Mup produces very high quality PostScript printed music or a MIDI file from a text input file. It can handle almost any kind of music, instrumental or vocal, including tablature, shaped notes, guitar grids, alternate tunings, user-defined symbols, and much more. Mup has been under active development since 1992.
orDrumbox is a fully-featured drum machine and audio sequencer that is pattern oriented, has an automatic composer, automatic sound assignations, custom drum kits, loop support, and the ability to import and export songs. Its main features are a pattern seqencer, a drumkit editor, a piano roll, a step sequencer, sound generation, soft synth, and the ability to import and export MIDI files and Wave files.
Sfront compiles MPEG 4 Structured Audio (MP4-SA) programs into efficient C programs that generate audio when executed. MP4-SA is a standard for normative algorithmic sound, which combines an audio signal processing language (SAOL) with score languages (MIDI and SASL). Under Mac OS X and Linux, sfront supports real-time, low-latency audio input/output and MIDI input. Under Mac OS X, sfront supports the creation of AudioUnit plug-ins. get_iplayer allows a user to stream or make recordings of any BBC iPlayer TV (H.264/Quicktime), BBC iPlayer Radio (MP3/AAC/RealAudio), or BBC Podcasts (MP3/AAC). It downloads iPlayer subtitles, metadata, and thumbnails. It has full PVR functionality for automatic searching, queuing, and stream recording. Its plug-in architecture allows third-party channels to be added. Live and embedded iPlayer TV and Radio recording and streaming is also supported. The optional Web PVR Manager allows full PVR searching, recording, and playback support of available and recorded material.
irrKlang is a high level 2D and 3D cross platform sound engine and audio library that plays WAV, MP3, OGG, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, and other file formats. It can be used by C++ and all .NET languages (C#, Visual Basic.NET, etc.). It has all of the features common to low-level audio libraries as well as lots of useful features like a sophisticated streaming engine, extendable audio reading, single and multi-threading modes, 3D audio emulation for low-end hardware, a plugin system, multiple rolloff models, sound effects, and more. All of these can be accessed via an extremely simple API using an object oriented design.
