GRAL is a library for creating high quality plots and charts in Java. Many plot types are available like scatter plot, bubble plots, line plots, area plots, pie charts, and bar charts. Additionally, GRAL can exchange and process data (smoothing), and various plug-ins allow the import and export of data and graphics to formats like CSV, JPEG, PNG, EPS, PDF, or SVG.

VectorGraphics2D can export Java painting operations to Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), or Portable Document Format (PDF) files. It supports the rendering of all geometric shapes provided by the Java language. More advanced features like transparency or clipping paths can be used as well. It has a very small footprint and can be easily used as a replacement for Java's java.awt.Graphics2D class.
ROOT is an OO framework for large-scale scientific data analysis and data mining. It contains an efficient hierarchical OO database, a C++ interpreter, advanced statistical analysis, visualization, introspection, documentation, networking, and GUI classes. The command/scripting language is C++, and large scripts can be compiled and dynamically linked in. Using the PROOF (Parallel ROOT Facility) extension, large databases can be analyzed in parallel. OpenVRML is a VRML and X3D browser plug-in and C++ toolkit for incorporating VRML/X3D support into applications. It provides VRML97 and Classic VRML X3D parsers, a runtime, and an OpenGL renderer as C++ libraries. The renderer is fully separate from the runtime library so that users can also provide their own renderer. The OpenVRML browser is provided as a D-Bus service, and is embeddable in host applications using XEmbed. The distribution provides both a stand-alone host and a host that runs as a Mozilla plug-in.
OpendTect is a seismic interpretation software system. It enables you to process, visualize, and interpret multi-volume seismic data using attributes and modern visiualization techniques such as stereo viewing and volume rendering. Visualization elements can be moved freely through data space to interactively analyze data from stored volumes, or data calculated on-the-fly. For more advanced work, commercial plugins are available.
BALLView is an extensible viewer for bio-molecular structures. It provides all standard models and offers rich functionality for molecular modeling and simulation, including molecular mechanics methods (AMBER, CHARMM, and MMFF94 force fields), continuum electrostatics methods employing a Finite-Difference Poisson Boltzmann solver, secondary structure calculation, molecular editing and docking. Since BALLView is based on BALL (the Biochemical ALgorithms Library), it is easily extensible on the level of C++ code. In addition, it provides a Python interface with Integrated Development Environment features to allow interactive rapid prototyping.
