python-tracing provides the Python library "tracing" to help with logging debug messages. This module provides a couple of functions for logging debug messages. It is sometimes practical to add a lot of debugging log messages to a program, but having them enabled all the time results in very large log files. Also, logging that much takes quite a bit of time. This module provides a way to turn such debugging or tracing messages on and off, based on the filename in which they occur.
ConMan is a serial console management program designed to support a large number of console devices and simultaneous users. It supports local serial devices, remote terminal servers (via the telnet protocol), IPMI Serial-Over-LAN (via FreeIPMI), Unix domain sockets, and external processes (e.g., using Expect to control connections over telnet, ssh, or IPMI Serial-Over-LAN). Its features include logging (and optionally timestamping) console device output to file, connecting to consoles in monitor (R/O) or interactive (R/W) mode, allowing clients to share or steal console write privileges, and broadcasting client output to multiple consoles.
Dconf is a tool to collect a system's hardware and software configuration. It allows you to take your system configuration with you and compare systems (like nodes in a cluster) to troubleshoot hardware or software problems. pam_ttylog is a PAM module to log console output of a login shell. pam_ttylog takes an approach that makes a script-like environment in the PAM session section of /bin/login. Thus, the log files are in a user-unreachable directory and have user-unreadable/unwritable permissions. As PAM module, it doesn't need to modify or replace the original /bin/login, getty, telnet, or libraries for its installation and operation.
SiLK (System for Internet-Level Knowledge) consists of two sets of tools: a packing system and an analysis suite. The packing system receives Netflow V5 PDUs or IPFIX and converts them into a more space efficient format, recording the packed records into service-specific binary flat files. The analysis suite consists of tools that can read these flat files and then perform various query operations, ranging from per-record filtering to statistical analysis of groups of records. The analysis tools interoperate using pipes, allowing a user to develop a relatively sophisticated query from a simple beginning.
NoBug is a library which provides assertions, logging statements, and annotations for C and C++ programs. It includes pre-/post-condition and invariant checks, as well as generic assertions. Checks are enabled based on build-levels and scope tags. It also includes debugger support (valgrind), dumping of data structures, logging your application's activities, runtime customizable logging via environment variables, different logging targets (ringbuffer, stderr, syslog, debugger, etc.), and annotation of your source code regarding known bugs, things to do, and planned things. It can track resources and detect deadlocks.
