The objective of the NIST Web Metrics Testbed is to explore the feasibility of a range of tools and techniques that support rapid, remote, and automated testing and evaluation of website usability. There are currently six components: 1. Web Static Analyzer Tool (WebSAT): checks web page HTML against typical usability guidelines. 2. Web Category Analysis Tool (WebCAT): lets the usability engineer construct and conduct a web category analysis (card-sorting). 3. Web Variable Instrumenter Program (WebVIP): instruments a website to capture a log of user interaction. 4. Framework for Logging Usability Data (FLUD): a file format and parser for representation of user interaction logs (such as those captured by WebVIP). 5. VisVIP Tool: produces a 3D visualization of user navigation paths through a website, based on FLUD data. 6. TreeDec: adds navigation aids to the pages of a website.
PushToTest TestMaker is a distributed test automation platform for application performance management and monitoring. It repurposes tests written in Selenium, soapUI, TestGen4Web, and Mozmill, and unit tests in Java, .NET, Jython, Groovy, PHP, Ruby, and Perl into functional tests, load and performance tests, and business service monitors. The main purpose of LoFiMo is, as the name states, to monitor log files. It does this in real time, i.e. shows the contents of log files as they are changing. The user can connect to LoFiMo with a Web browser or use the console for plain text output. When using a Web browser, the output can be formatted with cascading stylesheets, which the user can define. Thus, it is possible to highlight certain log entries with different colors and fonts. It is also possible to play sounds or execute commands (send an email, play sound with a custom player, etc.) when a log entry matches a filter. LoFiMo can parse Apache style log files and syslog style log files. Among others, there are filters that can parse iptables logs and merge multiple log lines of Postfix into a single one.

IDEA is an architecture for implementing a distributed intrusion detection system on a computer network. It provides a way to incorporate many different IDS sensors into an architecture, and have them report to a central IDS server. This server collects, aggregates, and correlates data from the sensors, providing a unified view of network activity. By specifying an open API, many different clients can connect to the IDEA server and "subscribe" to the event notification service so that the client will be notified any time a new alert is received from any of the sensors.
