BongoSurfer is a least-cost router for Linux, like the Smartsurfer program for Windows. It allows you to connect to the Internet with a 56k modem or ISDN, and chooses the cheapest provider for you. The tariff database is updated every day from http://www.billiger-surfen.de/. Since the tariffs only apply within Germany, the program is of little use in other countries. It features a cost calculator, a traffic monitor, an online timer, and more.
Borderline is a firewall generator. It takes a generic rule specification as input and generated an highly optimized firewall. It features IPv6 rule generation, support for multiple interfaces, and integrated support for network zones. It currently only supports firewall generation for Linux 2.6 (netfilter).
Brazilfw is a mini-distribution designed for setting up network utility services such as Internet connection sharing, firewalling, or wireless access points. The goal is to make it as quick and easy as possible to set up a Linux system with only a minimal amount of Linux knowledge. The main goal of BrazilFW is to continue the development of what was the Coyote Linux floppy firewall system.
Brcontrol is a set of patches to allow some interaction between an IDS and a firewall. Currently, snort is supported as an IDS, and the netfilter facility of Linux is supported as a firewall. Brcontrol can help in the creation of aggresive honeypots or other advanced firewall and IDS configurations. It can also work as a bridge.
Butterfly is a timing system designed for environments in which time spent on the Internet is charged for. Using ipchains(8) firewalling software, the Butterfly daemon cooperates with a web-based administration interface and a client interface to control time spent browsing. The ISP Edition allows the creation of several 'sites' and provides detailed accounting information for all the sites included.
C++ Sockets is a cross-platform C++ wrapper for BSD-style sockets. It implements the TCP, UDP, ICMP, and SCTP transport layer protocols. Implemented application layer protocols are HTTP/HTTPS (using OpenSSL), SMTP (server), and Ajp/1.3 (server). Features include transparent SOCKS4 client support and asynchronous DNS. Included in the library are a number of HTTP client functions such as GET/PUT/POST, and also Web server framework components.
C-ICAP Classify is a module that allows classification (labeling) of Web pages, images, and soon video based on content. Labels are placed in HTTP headers. Any PIC-Label META tags are exported into HTTP headers. This allows for creation of very flexible filters according to rules defined by the user, using the ICAP enabled proxy's ACLs. It is not a URL filter, so implementing it with sslBump or similar proxy technologies makes it very difficult to bypass. Text classification is done using Fast Hyperspace (based on Hyperspace from CRM114) and/or a Fast Naive Bayes. Image and video (when implemented) use haar feature detection from the OpenCV library.
CANpie defines a Standard API for access to the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus. The API provides functionality for ISO/OSI Layer 2 (Data Link Layer). The CANpie driver is the base for HLPs like CANopen, DeviceNet, J1939, etc. Through its low memory footprint, CANpie can be used for embedded applications (without any OS) as well as for Linux. Access to the Linux CAN driver is via a socket interface (AF_CAN).
