The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is composed of several parts. The first is a fully modularized sound driver which supports module autoloading, devfs, isapnp autoconfiguration, and gives complete access to analog audio, digital audio, control, mixer, synthesizer, DSP, MIDI, and timer components of audio hardware. It also includes a fully-featured kernel-level sequencer, a full compatibility layer for OSS/Free applications, an object-oriented C library which covers and enhances the ALSA kernel driver functionality for applications (client/server, plugins, PCM sharing/multiplexing, PCM metering, etc.), an interactive configuration program for the driver, and some simple utilities for basic management.
Opendedup is a deduplication-based filesystem and block device designed to provide inline deduplication and flexiblity for applications. It benefits services such as backup, archiving, NAS storage, and Virtual Machine primary and secondary storage, and can be deployed in both a stand alone and distributed, multi node configuration. Standalone, it provides inline deduplication, replication, and unlimited snapshot capabilities. In a multi-node configuration, it adds global intra-volume deduplication, block storage redundancy, and block storage expandability. and will store and share unique data blocks with other volumes within the cluster. These volumes can also specify a level of redundancy for data stored in the cluster.
dd_rescue copies data from one file or block device to another. It is intended for error recovery, so by default, it doesn't abort on errors and doesn't truncate the output file. It uses large block sizes to quicken the copying, but falls back to small blocks upon encountering errors. It produces reports that allow you to keep track of bad blocks. dd_rescue features a number of optimizations, such as sparse block detection, preallocation, and Linux zerocopy (splice). It supports data protection by (multi-pass) overwriting of files or partitions with good and fast random numbers.
KeyBox is a Web-based SSH console for executing commands and managing multiple systems simultaneously. It allows you to share terminal commands and upload files to all your systems. Once the sessions have been opened you can select a single system or any combination on which to run your commands. Also, additional system administrators can be added and their terminal sessions and history can be audited.
Kernel Mode Linux is a technology which enables the execution of user programs in a kernel mode. In Kernel Mode Linux, user programs can access kernel address space directly. Unlike kernel modules, user programs are executed as ordinary processes (except for their privilege level), so scheduling and paging are performed as usual. Although it seems dangerous, the safety of the kernel can be ensured through such methods as static type checking, software fault isolation, and so forth.
SmartGit/Hg is a graphical user interface for Git and Mercurial which can work with SVN repositories. It supports cloning from common repository providers (e.g., GitHub, Assembla), assists Git newbies, and also offers the advanced, powerful Git features. It provides several tools to help create clean commits, for example by allowing the user to commit just parts of changes files and reordering and squashing unpushed commits. If you are using GitHub or GitHub Enterprise, SmartGit/Hg can work easily with pull requests (creation, resolving) and commit comments. SmartGit/Hg ships with a built-in SSH client, file comparer, and merge tool which are capable of syntax coloring for many languages.
libcsdbg is a C++ exception stack tracer. When an exception is thrown, caught, and handled, libcsdbg offers the tools to create and process the exception stack trace, the path the exception has propagated up the call stack, unwinding it up to the section were it was handled. The traces are detailed with demangled function signatures and additional addr2line information (the source code file and line from which each function was called). libcsdbg can use all the well-known objective code file formats (a.out, elf, coff, ecoff, etc.) and can easily be used as the base for your own instrumentation code. libcsdbg transparently loads the symbol tables of the chosen dynamic libraries and of the executable, demangles function symbols to complete signatures, and binds function names to runtime addresses (even for the DSO symbols).
