mnsetup is a script that helps you set up mail and news on a Slackware system or other Linux system. It will set up the "fetchmail" mail client, the "mutt" or "pine" mail readers, and the "tin" or "slrn" news readers. The script will prompt you for your username, password, and email address. You need to have the "dialog" program installed to run mnsetup.
glatex is a small program designed to help you to edit your LaTeX document files (sources, styles, bibliography, figures, postscript images, etc.). It maintains a list of all your editable files in order to allow you to edit them quickly. But you can also launch the compilator, viewer, and print commands, and it allows you to have document templates for creating new projects. It is not intended to manage the files themselves. For example, if you move a file from one directory to another, you'll have to remove it from the list and re-add it from its new location.
Procwatch is security monitor written in Perl that watches a /proc filesystem for new processes. When a process is created, procwatch reports the time, the username, the PID, and the binary that was run. Its output is suitable for logging to log files and is geared for system administrators who are testing a new but as yet untrusted UNIX system. Although it cannot detect, and is not proof against, hacked loadable kernel modules that have modified /proc, it is useful in watching for possible rogue binaries.
Multicast BOOTP Java server and C/Linux client's goal is to implement the BOOTP/DHCP protocol through multicast rather than broadcast. Sun's Java networking API offers multicast socket communication objects, allowing you to create a platform independent IP interface configuration utility. Eventually, such utilities may become a fully featured multicast DHCP server. Any ideas on how to support existing BOOTP broadcast client requests are welcome. See the Multicast HOWTO at http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Multicast- HOWTO.html.
KeyKit is a multi-tasking interpreted programming language (inspired by awk) designed exclusively for realtime and algorithmic MIDI manipulation. KeyKit's GUI provides several dozen tools for algorithmic music experimentation, including a multi-track sequencer and drum pattern editor. The GUI and all tools are completely written in the KeyKit language itself. This allows users to add new tools and operations to the existing tools, even while the system is running. Complete C source code and precompiled executables for Windows and Linux are provided.
Tribes Console Log Parser (TCLP) parses Starsiege Tribes server logfiles to pull out name/IP correlations and scoring information. This data is entered into a MySQL database. The data can be retrieved either by manually entering SQL commands or through the provided Web (PHP) interface.
Enzyme is an architecture for creating user-searching-user applications. Right now, it is primarily useful as a resume create/search and HR management system. However, it's potential uses are wide-ranging, and it offers PHP developers an alternative to relying on simple "keyword" searching systems.
Installwatch is a simple utility which keeps track of which files are created and modified during the installation of a new program. It's fast and easy to use. It doesn't require a "pre-install" phase because it monitors processes while they run. Installwatch works with every dynamically linked ELF program, by intercepting system calls that cause file system alterations.
