Rambutan is a set of end-user applications software that assists a system analyst in the gathering and categorization of facts for a requirements specification document. In its current state, the product consists of two programs that perform similar functions. A handheld application is used to gather facts in the client's site while a desktop application is used to edit and further refine the requirement statements in the analyst's office. Both applications allow the user to enter, modify, and display data that make up a requirements specification document.
Fantulence is a software daemon that uses the hardware monitoring devices available in Linux 2.4 (I2C and lm-sensors). Its goal is to minimize fan noise on while keeping the system acceptably cool. Fantulence is a replacement for Fancontrol (which used lm-sensors). Fantulence automatically discovers sensor devices capable of controlling fan speed and (normally) requires no user configuration.
Project VDW is a an attempt to further research into van der Waerden sequences. The software consists of a client that generates sequences, and a utility to generate unique starting seeds. The ultimate goal of this project is to develop a BOINC-based client that can supply the massively parallel computing resources necessary to solve currently untouched sequences.
MMapDSP is a small tool for Linux that emulates a memory-mapped sound device on top of a sound device that does not support memory mapping. According to the OSS documentation, memory mapping of sound devices is an optional feature. Unfortunately, a number of programs, particularly games, rely on it anyway. This causes lots of grief, especially with some on-board sound cards. MMapDSP should work with Linux on i386-compatible systems with OSS sound drivers or ALSA OSS emulation.
SpamOracle is a tool to help detect and filter away spam. It proceeds by statistical analysis of the words that appear in the email, comparing the frequencies of words with those found in a user-provided corpus of known spam and known legitimate email. It is designed to work in conjunction with procmail, but can also work with KMail and other email programs through a pipe.
