Galera wsrep provider is a dlopenable generic replication library which implements the wsrep provider API. It provides very efficient synchronous replication, and multi-master and "parallel applying" capabilities for opaque data buffers. Its primary focus is data consistency. A transaction is either committed on every node, or not at all. It works anywhere TCP works, including on WAN, and can utilize UDP multicast where available. It is used by the MySQL-wsrep patch project to create true multi-master MySQL/InnoDB clusters.
Splunk Hogs is a quick Perl script that was written to find what systems are sending too many events to Splunk and using up all the licenses. This is good for several reasons: developers will turn debugging on and use up all the licenses, which will help catch it early; INFO messages get turned on and useless events will be sent, filling up the licenses; issues will be detected that were being ignored by others. The advantage over Splunk's SaveSearch is that it outputs the raw data, so you can import it into Nagios or other tools. It collects raw data from Splunk that consists of the host, Splunk server, and the count of events that took place.
Savepower is a simple and effective daemon for the cpufreq userspace governor. It is designed for workstations and servers, where all actions have to be done at the fastest speed, and after some idle time, maximum power savings are desired. It increases clock frequency to the maximum immediately on busy CPUs, and reduces the clock to the lowest frequency after a period of inactivity. The polling frequency is 1 second and can easily be shortened.
SystemTap is a tracing and probing tool that allows users to study and monitor the activities of the computer system in fine detail. It provides information similar to the output of tools like netstat, ps, top, and iostat; however, SystemTap is designed to provide more filtering and analysis options for collected information. It can be used as a performance monitoring tool, and is most useful when other tools cannot precisely pinpoint a bottleneck in the system, requiring a deep analysis of kernel activity. Application developers can also use it to monitor, in finer detail, how their application behaves within the Linux system.
Python System Monitor (Psymon) is a cross-platform task and performance monitor. It features global process monitoring, system load history (CPU, memory, network, and disks), disk information, network connections, detailed information and CPU, and memory percentage history per process.
