DansGuardian is a Web content filtering proxy that uses Squid to do all the fetching. It filters using multiple methods including, but not limited to, phrase matching, file extension matching, MIME type matching, PICS filtering, and URL/domain blocking. It has the ability to switch off filtering by certain criteria including username, domain name, source IP, etc. The configurable logging produces a log in an easy to read format. It has the option to only log text-based pages, thus significantly reducing redundant information (such as every image on a page).

LCDproc is a utility to drive one or more LCD (and LCD-like) devices attached to a host. It is comprised of a server, which uses a modular device driver system to control attached displays, and one or more clients to gather data as appropriate and send screen data to the server. The included client displays a multitude of system statistics (CPU/memory/disk usage, uptime, date and time, temperature, etc.). Multiple clients can connect to the server simultaneously, and clients can set priorities on the screens they provide to influence in what order items are displayed. This facility can also be used to "pop" critical screens (such as an entry from syslog from a log-watching client). All functionality is implemented in userland. Support for many display devices and several platforms (Linux, *BSD, and Solaris at least) is included.

It can be configured to recognize entirely new log types. log_analysis natively understands about 100 different kinds of syslog messages, as well as sulog and wtmp messages for Linux, Solaris, and OpenBSD. It also has optional continuous monitoring capabilities, with both text and GUI modes.

MCS MyRoute helps diagnose connectivity problems with detailed network routing discovery and analysis, providing visibility to poor-performing networks and devices. It includes a Java applet that enables remote users to easily test connections from the MyRoute server. Essential diagnostic tools including traceroute, ping, reverse DNS, and whois are combined into a single graphical interface that analyzes Internet connections, reporting quick and essential data points for finding connectivity problems. An IP location database identifies the geographical location of IP addresses and Web servers, showing the path of an Internet connection on a global map.

System Configuration Collector collects and classifies most of your Unix/Linux/BSD configuration data in flat files called snapshots. This allows changes in snapshots of consecutive runs to be detected. These changes are added to a logbook, which is helpful for administrators during troubleshooting and for auditors during audits. Snapshots and logbooks are also available in HTML format. All data can be send to an SCC server, where a Web interface provides access to summaries and supports comparing snapshots of different servers and searching of all data. A WMI-based Windows client is also available.

mrtg-rrd is a CGI/FastCGI script for displaying MRTG graphs from data in the RRDtool format. It can make your monitoring system faster, because MRTG does not have to generate all the PNG files with graphs every 5 minutes or so. Instead, the graphs are generated on demand when a user wants to see them. The main goal of this project is to generate output similar to the MRTG native graphs as much as possible, providing a drop-in replacement. It reads the same configuration file that MRTG does, and it can understand most of the directive types in this file. It can display single graph pages as well as directory indexes referring to more graphs or subdirectories.
