The CDDB/CDDB_get Perl module gets the CDDB info for an audio CD. The included script was intended as a demo for CDDB_get, but over time it has gained powerful features like the ability to write to a database, offline mode, HTTP mode (including proxy), saving in standard XMCD format, and writing 'lame' commands.

rebot3.pl renames MP3 files that you have grabbed from audio CDs with the track name, number, album, and/or artist. It does so by using either a remote CDDB server or a local CDDB created by cd (and other) players like xmcd, kscd or xmms. With rebot3.pl you can also add or remove ID3 (version 1) tags to/from the MP3 files.

T.E.A.R. (pronounced Tair) is a console-based frontend for common MP3/OGG creation tools which automates all of the settings involved in ripping and encoding a CD. TEAR uses the CDDB database at freedb.org to name, organize, and add ID3 tags to each encoded file. It can use either cdparanoia or cdda2wav to rip .WAV files from the CD and it can use lame, bladeenc, gogo, or OggEnc to encode them. TEAR also supports SMP.

cdmp3 uses cdparanoia or cdda2wav to extract single tracks or even a whole CD, and converts them on-the-fly into MP3 or Ogg Vorbis files. Using the CDDB database, it is possible to include information like the artist's name or the track's title into the file name or as meta tags in the file content.

shn2make works with sets of SHN or FLAC audio files and the make program to automate the burning of archive and audio CDs, and the encoding of MP3 and Ogg files. It finds the SHN or FLAC files in the current directory and verifies the MD5 checksums. It then looks for the .nfo or .txt file, finds the song names, and matches the songs to the available files. If everything is correct, it outputs the text of a Makefile. The targets of the makefile automate the various tasks that need to be done with SHN and FLAC sets. For example, "make Ogg" will uncompress and then encode all the files in the set to named and tagged Ogg Vorbis files.

rip-utils is a comprehensive command line toolkit for ripping, encoding, tagging, organizing, compiling, and otherwise managing audio archives. Each utility participates in a common framework that allows commodity tools (such as file browsers, multimedia players, and streaming servers) to access your digital catalog simply and effectively. A single command `ru rip` (tuned for optimal quality using cdparanoia and LAME) drives the ripping, encoding, and tagging process from end to end. rip-utils also provides powerful support for retrieving, modifying, comparing, and submitting album information using freedb servers.
