bcnu is a Web-based system management tool which delivers information on the status of networked systems in a simple and easy-to-use manner. It uses a web browser to display information about hosts in a tabular form. Historical information can be held indefinitely, and there is a powerful query tool available to interrogate it. Client systems can run an agent which logs information back to a central system. An agent scheduler is integrated to allow agents to be run at different intervals. Standard agents include ftp, http, disk space, logfiles, processes, and more.
CfgTie is a package of Perl modules and tools. These make it easier to configure and maintain Unix computers. The idea is that just about everything in your machines environment can be operable through a single consistent interface. This is a set of tools that make many of the various configuration subsystem in your machine appear to be Perl variables of some sort.
CGI::Application is a Perl framework intended to make it easier to create sophisticated, reusable Web-based applications. This module implements a methodology which can make Web software easier to design, easier to document, easier to write, and easier to evolve. CGI::Application builds on standard, non-proprietary technologies and techniques, such as the Common Gateway Interface and Lincoln D. Stein's excellent CGI.pm module. CGI::Application judiciously avoids employing technologies and techniques which would bind a developer to any one set of tools, operating system, or Web server.
lphdisk is a Linux utility to prepare hibernation partitions for use on laptops with Phoenix NoteBIOS. This utility is not needed to use the Suspend-To-Disk feature. It allows one to create a valid hibernation partition without having to boot to DOS and use the buggy PHDISK.EXE utility. This is especially useful after resizing/moving partitions or drives, or after adding system RAM to a laptop.
lsb-fhs tests the Filesystem Hierarchy aspects of the Linux Standard Base. The V1.0 and V2.1-X tests correspond to FHS2.0 and FHS2.1, respectively, and are now obsolete. The V2.2-X tests correspond to the FHS2.2 specification. The 2.2 tests are the current tests used for LSB 1.3 certification. The V2.3-X tests correspond to the FHS 2.3 specification and will replace the V2.2 tests for LSB 2.x certification. The V2.3 tests have yet to be formally approved by the LSB test team.
Obsidian is an extensible virtual world system with a fullblown multiplayer client-server architecture. It is not a VRML2 world system, though there are plans to include VRML2 as a world data format. Note that active development on this system stopped a while ago, though the code is still available for the curious. The code may not even compile on current Linux or Irix systems.
Oww (One-Wire Weather) is a client program for Dallas Semiconductor / AAG 1-wire weather station kits, providing a graphical (animated) display to monitor outside temperature, wind speed and direction, rainfall, and humidity. Extra temperature sensors may be added. A 1-wire "hub" may be used for improved reliability and range. Weather data may be logged to CSV files, parsed to command line programs, sent to the Henriksen Windows client, or uploaded to Web servers at Dallas, The Weather Underground, and HAMweather.
