The Information System Development Kit gives the developer a platform-independent method of creating Information Systems with data forms, SQL database access, database-browsing support, report generator and many other useful features. ISDK is now in a development stage and it is available only for the Linux operating system. The form module now works on text terminals using the ncurses library (not functional right now), and on the X-Window system using the GTK+ toolkit.
PIMPPA automates file downloading from newsgroups and FTP sites. Its especially designed for leeching pictures but can be used for any files. Filename-based heuristics and MD5 checksums are used for spam/duplicate prevention and automatic sorting of incoming material. The whole process is cronable. PIMPPA also includes a GNOME GUI and several commandline utilities for further processing and management of the kept files.
Sitegrab is a URL grabber that parses IRC logs for data and then inserts it into a database that can be searched through a web interface using a combination of announcer name, date, partial url, and type of url. TOra is a Toolkit for Oracle that helps the DBA or developer of a database application. It features an SQL worksheet with PL/SQL block parsing, a PL/SQL debugger and editor with syntax highlighting, a Schema browser, Unicode support, printing, and a full suite of DBA management tools.
ToutDoux is a project manager for GNOME. The approach of data manipulation is abstract (database free). It's extensible with plugins. Most tasks are and will be subcontracted with commandline frontends. The file format is XML (including a schema, plugins parameters, and datatables).
Universal Embedded SQL Compiler (UESQLC) is a compiler that provides a common way for accessing heterogeneous databases. UESQLC is based on Structured Query Language (SQL) as a standard for accessing data. This interface provides maximum interoperability, i.e. a single application can access different SQL Database Management Systems (DBMS) through a common set of embedded SQL code (UESQL). This enables a developer to build and distribute a client/server application without targeting a specific DBMS.
The unixODBC project provides Unix applications with the same ODBC 3.51 API and facilities available under Windows. It provides a Driver Manager that supports the full ODBC API and performs the ODBC 3 to ODBC 2 translations with UNICODE to ANSI conversion. It also includes a set of graphical utilities that allow users to specify connections to DBMSes to be used by applications, a collection of ODBC drivers including a simple text based driver, an NNTP driver, a Postgres driver and others, and a selection of templates and libraries that to aid in the construction of ODBC drivers. It works with MySQL, Postgres, StarOffice/OpenOffice, Applixware, iHTML, PHP, Perl DBD::ODBC, and many other applications and drivers. Connection pooling is also provided to increase performance with applications such as PHP.
VuohiMatik is a BBS software designed with large BBS systems in mind. It has filearea operations which work well on tens of thousands of files online, giving the end-user a uniform interface to perform quick selections and searches on the fileareas using various search conditions. Otherwise, it provides similar capabilities to AmiExpress and DayDream.
