LiVES is a simple to use yet powerful video effects, editing, conversion, and playback system aimed at the digital video artist and VJ. It runs under Linux, BSD, Mac OS X/Darwin, IRIX, and openMosix. It is frame and sample accurate, can handle almost all types of video, and is fully extendable through plugins and the included plugin builder tool. It can also be controlled remotely using OSC.
xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available--and some of the most uncommon formats, too. All those features come in a reusable library (xine-lib) which can easily be embedded in your applications.

Stantor-Domodulor is a home automation software system. It lets you manage electric and electronic facilities through Web pages and WAP 2 and 1 for smartphones. Stantor can drive Velleman k8000/k8055/k8061 boards, Ethernet and USB Arduino Mega, Uno and Duemilanove boards, X10 materials, USB webcams, and sound boards. Stantor correspondents can sent alerts via email and instant messaging. The Linux distributions supported are Ubuntu, Fedora, and Mandriva.
WOMP! is a micro Linux distribution on a bootable CD that takes up 13 to 18MB depending on the selected options. It does not install anything on the computer's hard drive, automatically detects your sound card, network card (including PCMCIA), Conexant soft modem (present on most notebooks), or PCMCIA modem. After booting it allows you to play movie and audio files, as well as browse image files on CDs or the local hard drive. It can also play DVDs, VCDs, and audio CDs, and browse the Web over the LAN or using PPP. It can be configured to automatically play content after booting.
