MatrixSSL is an embedded SSL and TLS implementation designed for small footprint devices and applications requiring low overhead per connection. The library is less than 50K on disk with cipher suites. It includes SSL and TLS client and server support, session resumption, and implementations of RSA, AES, 3DES, ARC4, SHA1, and MD5. The source is well documented and contains portability layers for additional operating systems, cipher suites, and cryptography providers.
The OpenCA OCSP Responder is an RFC 2560 compliant OCSPD responder. It can be used to verify the status of a certificate using OCSP clients (such as Mozilla/Netscape7). The Responder is actually included in the main OpenCA distribution package. It is also possible to install the daemon as a stand-alone application, in which case you will need a CRL (or access to an LDAP server where the CRL can be obtained).
OpenSC provides a set of libraries and utilities to work with smart cards. Its main focus is on cards that support cryptographic operations, and facilitates their use in security applications such as authentication, mail encryption, and digital signatures. OpenSC implements the PKCS#11 API so that applications supporting this API (such as Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird) can use it. On the card, OpenSC implements the PKCS#15 standard, and aims to be compatible with every software/card that does so.
OpenCT implements driver and middlerware for smart card readers. OpenCT drivers can be used via the ct-api interface, the ifdhandler interface, or its own interface/middleware. It implements drivers for several USB crypto tokens, USB smart card readers, serial smart card readers, and PCMCIA smart card readers.
Enigmail is an extension for the mail client of Mozilla, Netscape 7.x, and Mozilla Thunderbird that allows users to access the authentication and encryption features provided by the popular GnuPG software. It can encrypt/sign mail when sending, decrypt/authenticate received mail, and import/export public keys. It supports both the inline PGP format and the PGP/MIME format, which can be used to encrypt attachments, and is cross-platform, although binaries are supplied only for a limited number of platforms. Enigmail uses inter-process communication to execute GPG to carry out encryption/authentication.
