osarchiver (Operating System Archiver) creates CD/DVD backup images, useful for operating system disaster recovery. It features compact size, utilization of already-present operating system functionality, multiple Red Hat version compatibility, multi-volume capability, parallel compression, and hardware flexibility.
G4L is a hard disk and partition imaging and cloning tool. The created images are optionally compressed, and they can be stored on a local hard drive or transferred to an anonymous FTP server. A drive can be cloned using the "Click'n'Clone" function. G4L supports file splitting if the local filesystem does not support writing files larger than 2GB. The included kernel supports ATA, serial-ATA, and SCSI drives. Common network cards are supported. It is packaged as a bootable CD image with an ncurses GUI for easy use.

It includes a console application and C/C++ library, which allows embedding text extraction mechanisms into other applications. It supports MS Office binary formats (MS Word (DOC), MS Excel (XLS), MS PowerPoint (PPT), and Rich Text Format (RTF)), OpenDocument formats (text documents (ODT), spreadsheets (ODS), and presentations (ODP)), Office Open XML formats (MS Word (DOCX), MS Excel (XLSX), and MS PowerPoint (PPTX)), and HyperText Markup Language (HTML). DocToText can extract text not only from the document body but also from annotations (comments) embedded in odt, doc, docx, or rtf files and read metadata like author, last modification date, or number of pages. It can be used as a fast console viewer, and is able to convert corrupted OpenDocument and Office Open XML documents. It can be used to recover text even if other recovery methods failed.
fsarchiver is a system tool that allows you to save the contents of a filesystem to a compressed archive file. The filesystem can be restored on a partition that has a different size, and it can be restored on a different filesystem. Unlike tar/dar, fsarchiver also creates the filesystem when it extracts the data to partitions. Everything is checksummed in the archive in order to protect the data. If the archive is corrupt, you just lose the current file, not the whole archive.
SystemImager automates the installation of Linux to masses of similar machines. Software distribution, configuration, and operating system updates are made easy, including updates from one Linux release to another. It can also be used for content distribution on Web servers. It is most useful in environments with large numbers of identical machines. rfs is a shell script for creating and updating a local spare system disk. The main goal is to recover a working system after a crash quickly. In this case, "quickly" means the time it takes to reboot the machine. rfs stands for "replication of filesystems". Like rsyncbackup, rfs is built on top of rsync.
