CryptEngine is a fast 3D engine for Java. It is based on OpenGL and provides components and objects allowing the description and rendering of 3D scenes. Unlike several other 3D engines, it focuses on rapid application development and makes it possible to create and render complex 3D scenes without having to learn OpenGL. A large collection of demos are included, demonstrating the many features and providing you with valuable design techniques and tricks. It also facilitates game design with a sound system, scripting, and networking.
Microwindows is an Open Source project aimed at bringing the features of modern graphical windowing environments to smaller devices and platforms. Microwindows allows applications to be built and tested on the Linux desktop, as well as cross-compiled for the target device. Microwindows' genesis was with the NanoGUI project, and has now been combined into a single distribution. The Win32/WinCE API implementation is known as Microwindows, and the Xlib-like API implementation is known as Nano-X.
libbgrab is a video4linux grabbing library to facilitate use of framegrabber cards and webcams through a few function calls. To implement constant throughput and to avoid frame loss delays, triple buffering is used through local buffer copying in a separate grabbing thread. The many demo and utility programs included can display live video to X, convert live video to ASCII, smoothly zoom live-video (using Glide), do some image processing (using MMX), and provide a stand-alone webcam image server.
The MPEG4IP package provides a set of tools to encode, stream, and playback audio and video. It uses the MPEG-4 standards for audio and video, and the IETF standards for streaming. The included player can either playback from local MP4 file or stream from a remote server via RTP/RTSP.
LiquidMaya is a Maya to Renderman plug-in that handles full Renderman output support with a focus on speed, efficiency, and extensibility. Its features include procedural rib generation, full network rendering support, segmented rib files, a shader assignment interface, and much more. Along with the ability to write full C++ plug-ins, it is incredibly easy to script Liquid with Mel. Liquid was used for the visual effects of the "Lord of the Rings" movie.
