FF Multi Converter is a simple graphical application which converts audio, video, image, and document files between all popular formats, using and combining other programs. It uses ffmpeg for audio/video files, unoconv for document files, and the PythonMagick library for image file conversions.
GlusterFS is a clustered filesystem capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is based on a stackable user space design without compromising performance.
pcapfix is a repair tool for corrupted pcap files. It checks for an intact pcap global header and repairs it if there are any corrupted bytes. If one is not present, one is created and added to the beginning of the file. It then tries to find pcap packet headers, and checks and repairs them.
Malheur is a tool for the automatic analysis of malware behavior (program behavior recorded from malicious software in a sandbox environment). It is designed to support the regular analysis of malicious software and the development of detection and defense measures. It allows for identifying novel classes of malware with similar behavior and assigning unknown malware to discovered classes. It can be applied to recorded program behavior of various formats as long as monitored events are separated by delimiter symbols, e.g. as in reports generated by the popular malware sandboxes CWSandbox, Anubis, Norman Sandbox, and Joebox.
Zfswatcher is ZFS storage pool monitoring and notification daemon. It periodically inspects the zpool status and sends configurable notifications on status changes such as disk failures. It also controls the disk enclosure LEDs. There is an embedded Web interface for displaying status and logs.

CVS, GIT, and Mercurial as well as other well-known version control systems cannot version directories. In other words, you cannot add empty directories. A "workaround" for this issue is to use placeholder files that are placed into empty directories. These placeholder files can then be committed into the repository and will make sure that, upon checkout, the directory tree is entirely reconstructed. The problem with using placeholder files is that you need to create them, and need to delete them if they are not necessary anymore (because sub-directories or real files were added). With big source trees, managing these placeholder files can be cumbersome and error prone. MarkEmptyDirs can manage the creation/deletion of such placeholder files automatically. It creates placeholder files in all empty "leaf" directories. If later on new files or directories are put into such directories, the placeholder files are not necessary anymore, and are removed automatically.
SNeBU (Simple Network Backup Utility) is a backup system that supports incremental snapshot-style backups to disk-based storage. The project has been rewritten in C, and stores its backup catalog in an SQLite database. It features file level deduplication (including across multiple clients), compressed storage, incremental-forever snapshot style backups, simple setup, and utilizes standard TAR format. The client side consists of a simple shell script, which can be easily installed and adapted as needed. The server side is a single binary plus a config file, which can sit on a remote server and be accessed over SSH.
