SALI (Sara Automatic Linux Installer) is a tool that allows you to install Linux on multiple machines at once. It support several protocols for downloading by way of aria2 to install a machine. For example, BitTorrent and rsync are supported. SALI originates from SystemImager and still uses the same philosophy. It is a scalable method for performing unattended installation. SALI is mostly used in cluster setups.
Elektra is a universal hierarchical configuration store, similar to GConf and the Windows Registry. It allows programs to read and save their configurations with a consistent API, and allows them to be aware of other applications' configurations, leveraging easy application integration. While architecturally similar to other OS registries, Elektra does not have most of the problems found in those implementations. Elektra includes a library, an API, and commandline and GUI tools for administration tasks.
Bcfg2 helps system administrators produce a consistent, reproducible, and verifiable description of their environment, and offers visualization and reporting tools to aid in day-to-day administrative tasks. It is based on an operational model in which the specification can be used to validate and optionally change the state of clients, but in a feature unique to bcfg2 the client's response to the specification can also be used to assess the completeness of the specification. Using this feature, bcfg2 provides an objective measure of how good a job an administrator has done in specifying the configuration of client systems. Bcfg2 is therefore built to help administrators construct an accurate, comprehensive specification. Bcfg2 has been designed from the ground up to support gentle reconciliation between the specification and current client states. It is designed to gracefully cope with manual system modifications. Bcfg2 can also enable the construction of complex change management and deployment strategies.
SADMS (Samba as Active Directory Member Server/Station) makes it easy to add a Linux host to an Active Directory Domain. As a domain member, the Linux host can then offer resources (shares) to the domain hosts and offload authentication to the domain (making it unnecessary to have local user accounts). SADMS takes care of changing configuration files to achieve this.
IceWM Control Panel is a full-featured, GTK-based control panel for IceWM. It features an IceWM theme designer, Ice Sound Manager (for sound events), IcePref2, and tools to manage desktop wallpaper, cursors, keys, window options, and more. IceWM Control Panel has a familiar, Windows-like Control Panel user interface.
Ice Sound Manager was designed to ease the management of sound events, sound themes, and the IceSound server in the IceWM window manager. It is also intended to be an improvement upon the noble but primitive icesndcfg. The main improvements over icesndcfg include a support for sound event "themes", more comprehensive help, easy management and configuration of the IceSound server, a cleaner GUI interface, automatic starting of the IceSound server, and a more conservative approach to disk space usage.
IcePref2 is an updated, overhauled, improved, and perfected version of the original IcePref (which was abandoned by the original author). This new version includes many new features and bugfixes, and is a sub-project of the IceWM Control Panel project. It is optimized for IceWM 1.2.2 and better.
Virt-Factory is a framework for managing a large number of Xen virtual machines, such as might be found in data centers or large lab configurations. It works by managing a pool of registered physical hosts and then deploying virtual machines, which have specific roles as defined by their "profiles" (profiles act as shareable virtual appliance definitions), onto those hosts. Virt-Factory provides both a Web UI (for ease of use) and an XML-RPC API (for scripting of admin actions). A command line interface (along with other advanced batch management features) is coming soon.
