MakeHuman is software for the modelling of three-dimensional humanoid characters. Features that make this software unique include a highly intuitive GUI and a high quality mesh, optimized to work in subdivision surface mode (for example, Zbrush). Using MakeHuman, a photo-realistic character can be modelled in less than 2 minutes.
Vis/Space is a client-server system for visually exploring data structures in 3D virtual space. It allows the placement of various data sources in a three-dimensional environment. Custom search terms can be entered into a query field, or can be navigated to and from an existing object. All objects like images and "text screens" can be moved around. A single click on an image shows the full-resolution version in the foreground. Whole collections of images can be moved. A click to the cube also toggles among several different possible layouts. Data sources include search engines, microblogging, Wikipedia, image/video search, and 4chan.
Voreen is a rapid application development framework for the interactive visualization and analysis of multi-modal volumetric data sets. It provides GPU-based volume rendering and data analysis techniques and offers high flexibility when developing new analysis workflows in collaboration with domain experts. The Voreen framework consists of a multi-platform C++ library, which can be easily integrated into existing applications, and a Qt-based stand-alone application.
Seg3D is a volume editing and processing tool that combines a flexible manual segmentation interface with powerful higher-dimensional image processing and segmentation algorithms from the Insight Toolkit. DICOM, VFF, META, NRRD, and many other volume formats are supported. Users can explore and label image volumes using configurable, orthogonal slice view windows and 3D volume rendering.
Visualization Library is C++ middleware for high-performance 2D and 3D graphics applications based on the industry standard OpenGL 1.x-4.x, designed to develop portable applications for the Windows, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems. It supports advanced features like OpenGL Shading Language, Volume Rendering, Isosurface extraction, Frame Buffer Objects, Multiple Render Targets, Vertex and Pixel Buffer Objects, KdTree/AABB frustum culling, a multilingual Unicode-based text engine, advanced texturing, DDS cubemaps, mipmaps, compressed textures, and much more. Visualization Library can be especially useful in 3D/2D scientific visualization, virtual reality, augmented reality, visual simulation, data visualization, presentations, multimedia applications, special effects, and 3D/2D games.
Shader Maker is a simple, cross-platform GLSL editor. It provides the basics of a shader editor, such that students can get started with writing their own shaders as quickly as possible. This includes syntax highlighting in the GLSL editors, a geometry shader editor (as well as vertex and fragment shader editors, of course), interactive editing of the uniform variables, light source parameters, pre-defined simple shapes and a simple OBJ loader, and a few more.
Raggier is a plugin-based raytracer that supports XML format scenefiles, POV-Ray, and Polyray scenefiles. Other facilities planned include Lindermayer Systems (L-Systems), AVI/OGM (Ogg Vorbis)/Matroska animations, and a Perl/PHP Web interface. Raggier uses the Libtrace library, modified with various fixes to get it to compile using gcc 3.x and to improve the results. The modified version is called LibTraceMod and is available in the CVS.
