libxmp is a module player library which supports many mainstream and obscure module formats, including Protracker MOD, Scream Tracker III S3M, and Impulse Tracker IT. Possible applications for libxmp include standalone module players, module player plugins for other players, module information extractors, background music replayers for games and other applications, module-to-mp3 converters, etc.
FFmpeg is a tool for converting audio, video, and subtitles. It includes libavcodec, the leading open source codec library. It also includes libavformat (implementing muxers and demuxers), libswscale (for very fast video scaling), and libavfilter (an advanced video filter system supporting arbitrary filter graphs), and libavutil (a utility library intended to supplement libc). A simple multimedia player is included too. An experimental streaming server for live broadcasts is also included.
Enna is a Media Center application. Featuring a simple user interface, Enna is based on the powerful Enlightenment Foundations Libraries (EFL) for its graphical user interface and GeeXboX libraries for multimedia playback (libplayer) and information retrieval (libvalhalla and libnfo). It allows you to browse and play your music and video files, browse and play slideshows of your photos, retrieve information about your media files on the Internet, build a database of your media, and retrieve information from your collections (such as covers, fan art, song lyrics, and much more).
Libdmapsharing is a library you may use to access, share, and control the playback of media content using DMAP (DAAP, DPAP, & DACP). Libdmapsharing also detects audio AirPlay services; coupled with the AirPlay support in PulseAudio or GStreamer, this can allow an application to stream audio to an AirPlay device. The library presently supports Linux and other POSIX-based systems. It is written in C using GObject and libsoup. The DMAP family of protocols are used by products such as Apple iTunes, Apple iPhoto, and the Roku SoundBridge family to share media such as music and photos.
Marvin is an extensible image processing framework for Java. It provides features to manipulate images, to manipulate captured video frames, and to process images with multi-threading. Its features can be extended via plug-ins. Plug-ins can be integrated with the graphical user interface, and their plug-in performance can be analyzed. Every image processing algorithm is developed as a plug-in that can be plugged into the MarvinEditor, an image manipulation program that uses plug-ins developed using Marvin, or into third-party applications. Currently there are 55 plug-ins available.
Quad-Ren is a resolution independent 2D graphics engine that aims to ease the development of bitmap-based applications, primarily games. It will run regardless of screen resolution or aspect ratio, and works flawlessly with tiling window managers. It rectifies many of the issues with older methods of 2D game development such as color key transparency (which inevitably leads to aliasing) and having to draw sprites in a specific order, which Quad-Ren handles using alpha transparency and layers respectfully. It is programmed in, and usable from C++, with a simple object-oriented API and a small, well documented, easy to edit code base.
FreeCAD is a CAx RAD based on OpenCASCADE, Qt4, and Python. It features some key concepts like Macro recording, Workbenches, and the ability to run as a server. It's also platform-independent. It is is fully scriptable and designed to be easily extensible; only the core functionality is embedded into the core libraries, but all further functionality like support of triangle meshes, CAM, FEM, etc. is implemented in extension modules. Normally, such a module is divided into an 'App' part containing the data structures and algorithms and a 'GUI' containing the graphical representation of data structures, dialogs, workbenches, etc.
v4l-utils is a collection of various video4linux (V4L) and DVB utilities. libv4l is an accompanying collection of libraries that adds a thin abstraction layer on top of video4linux2 (V4L2) devices. The purpose of this layer is to make it easy for application writers to support a wide variety of devices without having to write separate code for different devices in the same class. It consists of 3 different libraries. libv4lconvert offers functions to convert from any (known) pixel format to V4l2_PIX_FMT_BGR24 or V4l2_PIX_FMT_YUV420. libv4l1 offers the (deprecated) v4l1 API on top of v4l2 devices, independent of the drivers for those devices supporting v4l1 compatibility (which many v4l2 drivers do not). libv4l2 offers the v4l2 API on top of v4l2 devices, while adding support for the application transparent libv4lconvert conversion where necessary.
