CTL is a cross-platform control dispatching tool that makes it easy to automate any kind of distributed systems management or application provisioning task. Rather than writing complex and error-prone scripts that over utilize "for loops", CTL handles the network dispatching for you and allows you to focus on the actual management tasks you need to accomplish. In addition to being a dispatching tool, CTL comes with pre-built cross-platform utilities so you don't have to script actions like file distribution or process and port checking. You can also write your own custom utilities and share them with others in your organization. Custom utilities are defined in XML, and your scripting can be done in multiple scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.), *nix shell, Windows batch, and/or Ant.
The Open Vulnerability Assessment System (OpenVAS) scanner runs many network vulnerability tests (NVTs) against many target hosts and delivers the results. It uses a communication protocol to have client tools (graphical end-user or batched) connect to it, configure and execute a scan and finally receive the results for reporting. Tests are implemented in the form of plugins which need to be updated to cover recently identified security issues. The core component is a server with a set of network vulnerability tests (NVTs) to detect security problems in remote systems and applications. Additional components are: openvas-client to control the scanner, and openvas-manager and openvas-administrator to leverage OpenVAS to a comprehensive vulnerability management solution. OpenVAS is a fork of Nessus.
Pike ScriptRunner allows you to run scripts written in Pike under any FastCGI-enabled Web server. It provides request parsing and I/O handling, enabling you to get right to the task of writing your code. It is a dynamic object-oriented language with a C-like syntax and a number of features that make it desirable for rapid prototyping and deployment of Web applications.
Cassandra is a scientific data viewer based on VTK. Cassandra provides dynamic interaction with the VTK pipeline and enables the user to load plug-ins dynamically in order to perform specific tasks in data manipulation and visualisation. Cassandra is open and modular, and can easily be extended to new filters through a set of dynamically loadable plug-ins. A plug-in template is provided to help users to develop and share their own plug-ins. This approach allows users to perform complex filtering without any specific knowledge of VTK or C++.
PySL is a package that makes S-Lang functions and variables accessible via Python. It allows any S-Lang data type to move from S-Lang to Python scope and back. It also lets the user call any intrinsic or user-defined S-Lang function (including those defined by imported modules) from Python. All of this can be accomplished using a simple, module-like interface.
