UnicodeDataBrowser is a browser for the UnicodeData.txt file, which contains much useful information but is not easily read by humans. It creates a scrollable table in which columns represent properties. The table may be sorted on any column. Abbreviations are expanded and characters cross-referenced in decomposition and casing fields are named. Regular expression search restricted to a selected column is available. The set of characters for which information is displayed may be restricted to those characters matching a regular expression on a specified property.
Dacco is a collaborative English-Catalan, Catalan-English dictionary project. It seeks to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive, bilingual dictionary that will be of benefit to learners of both languages. The dictionaries are downloadable and customizable (using XSLT) and contain audio files.
Hesperides is an adaptation for Mac OS X of Didier Willis' Dragon Flame, a dictionary for Sindarin (the grey-elven language, invented by J.R.R. Tolkien). It integrates Didier's Sindarin dictionary with a state-of-the-art interface and the Narmacil engine (to display the words using Tengwar).
An Gramadóir is a grammar checking engine that is designed for the rapid development of grammar checkers for minority languages and other languages with limited computational resources. Rule specifications are given according to a simple syntax combining XML and regular expressions. Part-of-speech tagging can be learned from text corpora using statistical methods. It is currently implemented for Irish (Gaeilge).
OpenEphyra is a question answering (QA) system. It retrieves answers to natural language questions from the Web and other sources. OpenEphyra comes with implementations of algorithms that proved effective in Carnegie Mellon's Ephyra system, which participated in the TREC evaluations. It is platform independent and can be set up in just a few minutes. The goal of this project is to give researchers the opportunity to develop new QA techniques without worrying about the end-to-end system.
IPA Zounds models language sound changes by applying a given set of sound change rules to a given lexicon. It has a built-in model of the International Phonetic Alphabet, allowing users to write input words in IPA characters and rules using those characters or the distinctive features of the model.
