SerLooK is a KDE application for inspecting data going over serial lines. It can work as a binary terminal that sends and receives data through a defined port (Point to Point mode) and displays them on separate views. Each view can be configured to display data in hexadecimal, decimal, octal, binary, and raw ASCII. It is also possible to perform I/O through terminal emulation views and define a secondary port and monitor the traffic between two external hosts using a "Y" cable (Snooper mode).
KShutDown is an advanced shutdown utility for KDE. It has four main commands: Turn Off Computer (logout and halt the system), Restart Computer (logout and reboot the system), Lock Session (lock the screen using a screen saver), and End Current Session (end the session and logout the user). It features time and delay options, command line support, panel applet, and sounds.
Krcstat is a graphic replacement for the Gentoo rc-status and rc-update command line utilities. It can be used to check that all your services are active and generate an alert if they are not. You may easily create new runlevels and drag services from the Services pane into them. (Alternate runlevels may be specified by using the softlevel parameter on the kernel command line in Grub or Lilo.) Krcstat is a bit conservative and will not let you delete the boot or default runlevels or certain boot services deemed critical. To use its configuration features it must run as root; if you only want to monitor services, it can be run as a normal user.
