Minirok is a small music player for the K Desktop Environment. As its name hints, it's modelled after Amarok, but with a reduced set of features. In particular, it is designed to cover all the needs and wishes of the author, leaving everything else out. The look and feel is almost identical to Amarok's, though. The main interface is a tree view of the filesystem, with a playlist that can only be populated via drag and drop. There is no collection built from tags, so it's targeted at people whose collections are already structured in a tree at the filesystem level. Searches can be performed both in the tree view and the playlist.
Krcstat is a graphic replacement for the Gentoo rc-status and rc-update command line utilities. It can be used to check that all your services are active and generate an alert if they are not. You may easily create new runlevels and drag services from the Services pane into them. (Alternate runlevels may be specified by using the softlevel parameter on the kernel command line in Grub or Lilo.) Krcstat is a bit conservative and will not let you delete the boot or default runlevels or certain boot services deemed critical. To use its configuration features it must run as root; if you only want to monitor services, it can be run as a normal user.
katimon is an unofficial ATI graphics card temperature monitor, fan regulator, and overclocking utility. It is a graphical front-end to the command-line aticonfig utility. Katimon monitors and controls supported ATI graphics cards. It can monitor temperature, fan speed, GPU speed and memory speed. It can automatically control fan speed by monitoring the temperature. It can also act as an overclocking utility for cards that support it. This utility only works with the proprietary fglrx driver.
synaptiks is a KDE touchpad tool consisting of a system settings module for touchpad configuration and a tray application for touchpad management. The system settings module allows you to configure basic as well as advanced touchpad settings. The tray application can switch your touchpad on or off, either manually using a global shortcut, or automatically, if external mice are plugged or while the keyboard is active.
Hebe is a KDE 4.4 front-end GUI for the Hercules z/Arch emulator. It was designed to have a modern look, like the VirtualBox interface; there are no dials. Hebe provides two consoles, one for Hercules and one for the SCP (system control program), also known as the operating system. Input is automatically routed to the correct receiver. You can start as many instances of Hercules as your hardware can support. Hebe works best with Hercules 3.0.7.
mod-icon-geom is a command line utility that allows the user to set the KDE 4 desktop icon's height and width. It creates a configuration file by using the -c option along with default height (-h) and default width (-w) option settings. It modifies the geometry for each desktop icon found in .kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc to make the icons have the desired height and width. After the configuration file is generated, the user can modify that file to have height and width values for individual icons that are different than the default (useful if the icon text is larger than the default width allows), and the true values in the appletsrc file can be saved back to the configuration file with the -s option. This utility saves time and energy by giving the user an additional level of control over desktop icons that was lost in KDe 4.
KDE-Services extends the features of Dolphin's right click menu in the KDE graphical environment. It allows you to play and convert between several video formats, extract audio from movies and convert them to MP3, convert audio to MP3, securely send a file or directory to Mailx as an email, send files to Thunderbird as attachments, burn and checksum ISO images, execute scripts and applications, get low-level information on video files, build ISO images from folders, replace text, search, SSH, use Midnight Commander, use system, network, and backup/restore tools, use Samba, extract subtitles from MKV video, multiplex subtitles into MPEG-2 videos, and work with YouTube, DVDs, multimedia, GPG. You can add a timestamp prefix to a filename or directory name. A paranoid shredder, an HTTP publisher, graphic tools, and package tools are included.
