The Encoding Service Engine is a JBI component that provides plug-n-play compression capabilities to ESBs to improve performance between Web services by decreasing bandwidth consumption. The compression mechanism itself is configurable and independent from the transport. For example, one configuration might use gzip compression over HTTP, and another might use FastInfoset over SIP.
FullTextSearch4NB is a Lucene-based full text search plugin for Netbeans. It provides indexing of Netbeans project source directories, library sources, and Javadocs where source and/or Javadocs are specified in the library. It can search project indices using a simple (wildcarded) search or an advanced search using the Lucene Query Parser query language syntax that supports features such as wildcard searches, fuzzy searches, proximity searches, range searches, and term boosting. It can monitor the source directory for changes and auto-reindex when a file is saved.

The Java Engine for Testing (JET) is a system for running distributed automated tests. It has been used by Sun for testing the High Availability DataBase (HADB), JavaDB, PostgreSQL, Memcached, and the MySQL Cluster Manager. JET should be a good way to write your tests if the product you want to test is distributed or has a client/server architecture, if it is natural for you to write the tests in Java, and if you want to invest time in developing tests and abstractions for later reuse.
