iLabs mobile toolbox is a set of libraries and demo applications for Java ME. It includes libraries for XMPP, feed reading, and highly functional and fast, but limited, rendering of HTML with some CSS. The OpenMiniBrowser demo application shows some of the potential of the HTML renderer. It is intended to be embedded in other applications, but may also be used as a standalone browser. The toolbox also includes "the Widger": a HTML and XML based application that allows much of the application logic to reside on a server, while the user interface is a true Java ME application and not just Web pages.
Jasymca is an interactive system for solving math problems. It supports arbitrary precision numbers and symbolic variables. Scalars, vectors, and matrices can be built from all datatypes and used in calculations. From the pseudoinverse of symbolic matrices over trigonometric simplifications to symbolic solutions of integrals and systems of equations, the main functionalities of CAS-programs are provided. Additionaly, high performance numerical routines from LAPACK and a plotmodule are implemented. The user interface can be selected from either an Octave/Matlab/SciLab-like language or a GNU-Maxima style. Three versions of Jasymca are provided to cover almost any computer platform: a midlet version for portable devices like cell phones or PDAs; a Java application for desktop PCs, laptops, and workstations; and an applet which can be integrated in Web pages.
JLearnItME is a multilingual translator for mobile phones. It includes15 languages: English, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Hebrew, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Hungarian, Russian, Latin and Czech. The same dictionary can translate from any language to any language (e.g. English-French and French-English). It takes only 2.0MB for the 15 languages. It works on any mobile that accepts Java applications larger than 2.0MB. The user interface is available in English, French, Dutch, German, Italian, and Czech. You can create your own dictionary with JLearnIt (e.g. only French - Italian). It browses the nearest words if you do not find a translation.
Spring ME is a version of ME that not only runs on your cell phone, but also on any other Java platform not supporting reflection. It is to Java ME what Spring is to Java SE and Java EE, which is indicated by the name. However, the "ME" (Micro Edition) suffix not only refers to the platform it supports. It also refers to the size of the runtime, which is pretty minimal. In fact, it's pretty much non-existent, and therefore ideal for situations in which you cannot afford the sheer size of the traditional Spring runtime.
Crystal Ball Mobile is a desktop sharing and remote access application for Java-enabled mobile phones. Key features: high performance data compression, optional encryption, access behind firewalls and routers, mouse/keyboard emulation (J2ME version only), and no proprietary software needing to be installed on a remote computer.
Loanr is a simple loan calculator. It's been tested on primary BlackBerry devices and Symbian devices. It's handy to have when looking to purchase a car from a dealer with their frequent jumping back-and-forth from total payments to monthly payments, but also works for other types of loans and less low-pressure situations. The file is unsigned, and may illicit a warning on your device when you try and download it.
