PHP Shell is a shell wrapped in a PHP script. It's a tool you can use to execute arbiritary shell-commands or browse the filesystem on your remote Web server. This replaces, to a degree, a normal telnet-connection. You can use it for administration and maintenance of your Web site using commands like ps, free, du, df, and more.
PIKT is cross-categorical, multi-purpose software for monitoring and configuring computer systems, administering networks, organizing system security, and much more. PIKT is intended primarily for system monitoring, and secondarily for configuration management, but its versatility and extensibility evoke many other wide-ranging uses. PIKT consists of a sophisticated, feature-rich file preprocessor; an innovative scripting language with unique labor-saving features; a flexible, centrally directed process scheduler; a customizing file installer; a collection of powerful command-line extensions; and other useful tools.
pkgusage lists all the packages you have installed on your system, along with a number telling you how many days ago you last accessed any of the files in the package. This could be useful for cleaning out your hard drive. Pkgusage works with RPMs and Debian packages, and is written to be easily portable to other package managers as well.
Powertweak-Linux is a tool to tune your system to its optimal performance settings. It started life as the replacement for the now obsolete kernel option 'tune PCI bridges', and has been extended to provide more features and support more chipsets. It can also tune network/filesystem performance using /proc/sys entries, disk elevator settings, and x86 CPU registers (needs 2.2.18 or 2.4.0test kernel), CDROM speeds, hdparm type features, and Sony VAIO backlight. It has both a GTK GUI and a text-based lister.
Replicator is a set of scripts to automate the duplication of a Debian GNU/Linux installation from one computer to another. Replicator makes an effort to take into account differences in hardware (like HD size, video card) and in software configuration (such as partitioning). After the initial configuration, the scripts will create a bootdisk that allows you to completely (re)install a Debian box by booting from the floppy and answering a yes/no question. It works with Debian 2.1 (stable) and frozen (potato).
Loki Setup is a graphical installer for Unix applications. It features descriptions of the package to install in XML, a GTK interface that can be dynamically redefined by the user with Glade, raw and ncurses console interfaces, and the automatic generation of uninstall scripts. It has been successfully used on many Linux and UNIX platforms. It includes tools for uninstalling, patching, and recovering installations. It operates independently from any package managers.
SFI Director is a tool for managing distributed, heterogeneous UNIX Systems. Its functionality includes System Configuration, Application Distribution, NIS and NIS+ Management, User Creation, and Dynamic System Documentation. It is in service at a number of sites, managing networks of 50 to 200+ UNIX nodes, under Linux, Solaris, Digital UNIX, and HP-UX.
Star is a very fast, POSIX-compliant tar archiver, maintained for more than 30 years. It saves many files together into a single tape or disk archive, and can restore individual files from the archive. It includes command line interfaces for the "tar", "Sun-Tar", "cpio", "pax", and "gnutar" command-line syntax. It includes a FIFO for speed, a pattern matcher, multi-volume support, the ability to archive sparse files and ACLs, the ability to archive extended file flags, automatic archive format detection, automatic byte order recognition, automatic archive compression/decompression, remote archives, and special features that allow star to be used for full and incremental backups. It includes the only known platform independent "rmt" server program.
A simple and trivial to use utility for keeping various 3rd party application packages installed on multiple machines. It leaves flexibility for making packages local to a host or remotely served from a central server. It is not the same sort of tool as RPM; rather it serves a related but different purpose. In particular, unlike most package systems, it can run independently of your main system (RPM, pkgadd, etc) and lets you install multiple versions of an appplication at the same time.
