NNNbackup (No-name network backup) is a simple backup system framework for data in an SMB/CIFS networked environment. It can also be used for backing up local data. The primary focus of this system is the simple selection of data to be backed up and the security of said data. It is also very portable because it relies on common Linux tools and its behavior is controlled entirely by a single and simple configuration file.
Podget is a simple podcast aggregator optimized for running as a scheduled background job (i.e. cron). It features support for downloading podcasts from RSS and XML feeds, for sorting the podcasts into folders and categories, for importing podcast URLs from iTunes PCAST files and OPML lists, automatic M3U and ASX playlist creation, and automatic cleanup of old podcasts. It also features automatic UTF-16 conversion for podcasts hosted on Windows servers.
Vidrate is a tool for allowing multiple people to vote which video files of a database should be kept. This tool can help you to quickly free some space on your file server without specifically asking all the server's users which movies should be kept. The interface also allows you to mark videos as seen and to assign comments. Included is a cron job that periodically scans the video directory for new or deleted videos and also deletes videos that have the required number of votes.
Larbin is a Web crawler intended to fetch a large number of Web pages to fill the database of a search engine. With a network fast enough, it should be able to fetch more than 100 millions pages on a standard PC. This set of PHP and Perl scripts, called webtools4larbin, can handle the output of Larbin.
h300goodies consists of a handful of Perl and shell scripts that were written to help manage a user's music collection on an iRiver H320 or H340 digital jukebox. These scripts don't run on the player natively, but are used when the player is mounted on a local file system via a USB connector. The scripts will build M3U playlists that you define, scan your collection and build playlists based on the genre in the MP3/Ogg file ID3 tags, scan your collection for long filenames that cause problems with iRiver's database software, randomize an existing M3U playlist, and so on.
